Fort Worth is the fifth-largest city in the state of Texas (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas) and the 19th-largest in the United States (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States). The city is also large in geographic area as it covers almost 300 square miles and is the county seat (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/County_seat) of Tarrant County (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tarrant_County%2C_Texas)—the 18th most populous county in the country.

As of the 2000 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2000)U.S. Census (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U.S._Census), Fort Worth population was 534,694 (though a 2004 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2004) estimate placed the population at 603,337). The city is the second-largest cultural and economic center of the Dallas–Fort Worth–Arlington (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dallas/Fort_Worth_Metroplex) metropolitan area (colloquially referred to as Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex), the fifth-largest metropolitan area (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_metropolitan_area) in the U.S. with a population of 5.7 million in 12 counties.

Fort Worth was founded as a military camp (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_camp) in 1849, named after General William Jenkins Worth (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_J._Worth). Today, the city is portrayed as more old-fashioned and laid-back than its neighbor, Dallas (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dallas%2C_Texas). Known as "Cowtown" for its rough-and-rowdy roots, Fort Worth still celebrates its colorful Western heritage today and bills itself as "Where the West begins

Some pic's of Nicole Kriz &/or any of the Aussie girls in qualies would be awesome....
Would be great to show some of the people on this board who keep referring to Krizzy's former weight, that she's done so much fitness work.
She's looking great & 1/2 the size she used to be! Would be nice to have a couple of pics to prove this.. :D

I am speechless after going to the qualies today. I witnessed the worst player in the history of professional tennis. She has lost to bagel girl Dewonder Davis 6-0, 6-0, she would lose by the same score to ANY Other bagel girl!

Kelly Taylor

She did not win a single point the whole match today against a girl who i think goes to a local high school..either way it was kelly's opponent's first ever match. She got in 10 serves the whole match (not first serves....serves period - the other 14 service points were double faults). The first serve I saw her take she wiffed the ball. She showed up at court with a racket in a case (you knwo how they come if you order them individually)..no bag or anything. The longest rally was 4 strokes. Umm what else..it was just sad. She tried to take a seat (change over) at 6-0, 4-0 and the official had to ask her what she was doing...she litereally doesn't even have "strokes" she just punches at the ball and 9 times out of 10 it hits the frame and flies sideways or to the fence (or over it..).

Oh yea, at like 6-0, 4-0 her opoponent was serving to the ad side. Kelly hit an out first serve and the ball went like straight to her right and stopped by the fence at the right side of the court (ok..so you get it on the opposite side of the court). Kelly walked and got the ball and hit it to her opponent..this is between serves. Her opponent and the official just looked at each other in awe like , is this girl serious.

Dewonder lost 6-1, 6-1...she was hitting the ball well today!

oh well, those are the only 2 matches i went to see! but there were a lot more 6-0, 6-0 matches so too bad I missed them :(

Did she literally not win a point the whole match? Because that would be two golden sets for her opponent!

Did you talk to Kelly at all after the match? She's got to realize that she's not cut out for the local 2.5 womens team, let alone the professional tour. I fuckin hope she does at least...

she's not cut out for a high school team, seriously.
no i didnt talk to her, she zipped her racket up in her bag and left, didn't even see her around and it wasn't a court where you could walk up to her.
she did however laugh at herself a few times, and just walked around the court like she was in a daze..almost like it was a joke that she was out there playing. but shes done it for 3 years so who knows..

Q-Round: 1/352-Story Tweedie-Yates d. 9/1213-Nicole Bouffler - 6-0,6-0 :o
I don't think Story's that good a player :o

Great effort from Lara Giltinan winning 3 matches in a row in her 1st tournament play since 2004!! :worship: Nice fighting effort against the #2 seed in the final round.....
Q-Round: 2/820-Jamie Hampton d. Lara Giltinan - 6-3,6-7(5),6-4

Great to see Erin Liefeld make the final round of qualies too :D , but chucked a Bouffler there :o
Q-Round: Lindsey Nelson d. 1392-Erin Liefeld - 6-0,6-0 :o :o

It costs far too much to travel to the States from Australia, only to get double bagelled in the final round of qualies & not earn any $$$ whatsoever for the week!!

Well I'm back :) :)

I'll write a brief report on a few matches

Qualifying Draw:

not much to say except there were tons of girls that were awful

I spent most of my time supporting Yolande Leacock ... she's born in 1991 and has a pretty good game -- her biggest problem is that she doesn't have a backhand. She's a tall girl already, around 5 foot 9 or 10, and her dad must be around 6 foot 4 or 5, so she'll keep on growing.

If you want any report on any other player, let me know.

1st Round:

Glatch demolished Ritchey - nothing she could do

Lindsey Nelson is a tall, blonde barbie doll :hearts: -- perfect tan, around 6 feet tall, perfect body and a powerful game  -- she killed Powers with tons of winners

Biffy and Bo have the same game - bad from the baseline but good at the net.

Nina Munch is a lefty - nice game - not too much power but no weaknesses - she'll be going to TCU starting in the fall.

Shona Lee played so bad, but she is also gorgeous :hearts: -- has no major strengths either, but has a good forehand -- Kobak is a tricky player, lots of dropshots, angles, and different spins.

Chantal Beetham is a sweetheart and I'll see her again in the 25k in Vancouver. Salome's moonballs are . She drives an X5 BMW and travels with her boyfriend.

Now I know why Kristy Marcio is dropping - she doesn't have a backhand

Tweedie-Yates played so bad :banghead: until she was down 05 in the 3rd set, she won 4 games in a row before playing another bad game. Nze is good - nice and solid and really consistent.

2nd Round:

Glatch did what players should do against Nelson. Her backhand and forehand slices forced Nelson into so many errors. Glatch kept the ball nice and deep with moonballs and heavy topspin of the forehand, which was what she had to do to throw Nelson off her power game.

Maria Mokh is  - she yells, screams at her opponents, takes bathroom breaks when she is losing, takes injury timeouts -- with that said, she's got an awesome backhand. Her mother coached Zvonareva as well. Mokh outlasted Gantcheva in such a long match. Elena's got a nice game - nice and consisent, with moonballs here and there.

Nicole Kriz's left leg had her thigh wrapped, her knee bandaged, and her ankle taped. She's got a great forehand, one handed backhand, but lacked the consistency to beat Besovic, who plays for TCU.

Quarterfinals:

Glatch once again played her game of chasing every ball down with slices of the backhand and heavy topspin from the forehand. Nina didn't have the power nor the patience to challenge Alexa.

Beau Jones and Maria Mokh's match was so long. Beau's got an all-around game - a one-handed backhand, good at the net, not too much power but nice variety in her shorts. Maria was down 2:5 in the 3rd, fought back to 5:5 before losing. Beau told me after shaking hands with Mokh at the net, that Maria told her "next time we face, I'll be #1"

Hampton's got a great power, all-around game - she has no weaknesses - very good forehand and backhand, great serve, good defense game as well. Her biggest problem right now is that she can lose focus in her match and start to make careless errors. Jamie posts in this message board, so she can describe her game better than me. ;)

Leimbach is also really good - nice forehand and backhand. Nze though had the match but lost it with some bad errors.

Maria Victoria is really nice - I talked to her a bit. She hits the ball pretty hard from both sides - nice topspin of the forehand, beautiful one-handed backhand. She's got the potential to do really well, but needs the gain more consistency. She's pretty tall, around 5 ft 9, dark skin, curly black hair. She was upset that she'd have to miss Edmond next week because of doubles, but she'll play South Lake and then go to Spain.
