One for all your mathematicians....(not me - i failed maths all through high school..lol)

With Venus and Lindsay with lots of points to defend, and Mary and Lindsay maybe out of Wimbledon...there's sure to be some changed among the top 10-15 after the Championships!

I don't think Justine will be exiting in the 1st round this year - she will be adding a lot of points.

I hope Henin does not get #1 ranking somehow.

Poor Myskina. Looks like she will have to play out of her mind the rest of the year or she will retire. :o

So basically Justine has no chance at #1 or #2 but she can gain some serious ground on Kim and MoMo if she does better than them at Wimby. :)

I am not sure but a win in a GS is (i think) worth 700 points, so if she wins and both Kim & Momo lose in 2 nd round or earlier then she will be #1!

its a long shot though but not entirely impossible....

come on..take it slow...Ju jas plenty of time to get to no 1 till year end..Shes hardly anythingto defend!!!!!!!!!! A win at Wimby is all we need Juju I dont care abt anything else rt now..Hope she gets easy draw.. :tape: as she would need a lot of matches to get used to fast sliding grass..

If Justine wins Wimbledon she would have won 2 GS's and have one final in a GS, that would certainly justify a #1 rank. Still, even if she wins, she will probably still be ranked 3th.

Well Justine said it herself that she always loved to achieve something for the first time and she would prefer winning Wimbledon for the first time over ragaining the #1 ranking....

saying that, there is still a minute chance she can have both post-wimbledon.
Not asking for too much but getting that would be awesome!!!!

There's now a three-way fight for no.1 at Wimbledon. If you take Wim points off from last year the possible points for each round are:

1R 2R 3R 4R QF SF RU W
AM 2994 3030 3054 3088 3166 3306 3484 3692
KC 3105 3105 3125 3159 3237 3377 3555 3763
JH 2603 2639 2663 2697 2775 2915 3093 3301

As it stands Kim is in the best position.

Henin has an outside chance - she has to win it and hope Kim doesn't make SF.

Mauresmo has to reach the QF just to stay ahead of Kim. If Kim makes QF, Amelie needs a SF and so on (in other words she has to go one better than Kim)

If Justine were to become number one, it would be extra-deserving because she also holds a grand slam singles title. Maursemo, Clijsters and Henin-Hardenne, the top three, are all grand slam title holders and deserving of the number one ranking.

Wouldn't it be so hilarious for
Venus to start at the beginning of the tournament ranked
12, defend her title, and wind up ranked like 16 afterwards! :tape:

Yet, you'd not hear me complaining!

Taking the bonus points system away is just stupid, the worst decision ever, best eg was this yr at Aus Open after Tsveti beat Vee in the 1st round and lost the 2nd, she got shit points, they really need to bring them back. LenaD will pass Davenport and maybe Petrova, Kuznetsova will prob pass petrova if she doesnt lose early and JHH has a chance to be near number 1

So she should get tons of points for losing to Laura Granville in the second round?

Yeah, and cos there's still great difference between the top 10 and the rest of the field - not like on mens tour - that they should give more points for beating the best players.

No, she should get points for
beating a high quality opponent as Venus.

It's like taking out the #1 player the 1st rd of
a Slam and getting the same points as someone
who beat a player ranked #400 in the 1st rd.

It's stupid but that's
the WTA so whatever.
