Does anybody know if this match will be on TV somewhere :wavey:

Maria played shaky against Rolle, especially with serving some DF

Na was solid against fast court specialists Washington and Danillidou

This should be a tight match. Hope Na gets the W

All I'm hoping is that Na stays mentally tough and focussed throughout the match and not waste any opportunities, like she'd done against top players in the past. :)

It will be tough for Na but if she can hold her nerves in the match she's ofcourse has a shot...especially because SHarapova wasn't convincing in her opener!

I remember their OZ match, Na looked petrified. I don't think the centre court at the DFS will have quite the same effect. GO NA! :hearts:

i wouldn't give na much of a chance in this one. maria may surrender 5 games. she's got too much firepower.

Have you ever seen Na play?
Na can match Maria off the ground ;) (just like she banged toe to toe w/ Lindsay at the USO last year)
Maria has the huge advantage in the serve though

I don't think the serve is the big advantage for SHarapova...I think Na's serve is much better than people give her credit for. It's consistency and mental toughness that separates these two...Na can make strings of UEs and seems to get nervous at big moments. That's the big difference.

I agree, pcrtennis. Na has loads of talent, it's between the ears that she suffers.

If she could sort her brain out she'd been top 20 by now, IMO.

I hope Na wins but i think Maria is too strong. I say Maria in 3 just because she fights harder

i've seen na play loads of times. she doesn't match sharapova off the ground. definitely not on a grass court. i don't want to hear about woulda coulda's in close matches na has had. i don't care if maria was 4-1 down against her and rattled off four straight games or if na "baged toe to toe" with lindsay. if she did, then why didn't she win?

having a 4-1 lead does mean something and Na can hit toe to toe with Sharapova, just lacks consistency and mental toughness...the end score isn't the only relevant aspect of a match...

that's true.... but you can't go toe to toe with someone if you can't match their toughness or cosistency.

the only reason li had that 4-1 lead was because maria had one of her common second set lapses, but luckily that time she came back!

No Na was outhitting her...did you watch the match? Sharapova isn't good enough that everything that happens on court is because of her...she was being outplayed...

I don't quite follow the logic here. Na was outhitting and outplaying Sharapova and then lost 5 games.

How can you be outplaying someone, and then lose 5 straight games?

I don't get how this could confuse you...she was outplayig her up to 4-1 then blew some chances...I was talking about the building for the 4-1 lead...

Ah, thanks for explaining that. That makes sense. So basically Na hit a few winner in the 2nd set to break Maria, and was being outplayed by Maria in the rest of the match.

She outplayed SHarapova during the second and had chances to get to 5 but made some errors...she was outplaying Sharapova during that time and let it slip. And when her level slipped SHarapova raised her game. It's simple really.

Sharapova 6-2 6-3

Really, Na is no threat to Masha, unless Masha starts making UE's. That's the only way Na has a chance.

Na hit a few winners, but basically was carried by Masha's dumb UE's. Quit trying to make Na look better than she is.

Clearly then you weren't paying attention to the match...Na was outplaying her in those games with lots of winners and Forced errors...but the difference between Na and Sharapova is that Na wasn't able to keep it up longer than 4-1..SHarapova raised her game. Thats all Im saying...
