With a wrist injury

Dani

 :fiery: you should have withdrew a little earlier so Na Li could have been seeded #12 and avoided Sharapova in R16

Its bad news especially as its so close to Wimbledon :(
But, maybe a blessing in disguise so she can try and rebuild herself up?

Daniela. :sobbing:

A shame missing out on points on your best surface. Heal up in time for Wimbledon, please.

i really think she withdrew becuase she knows she does not have enough time to practice on grass in order to do well at the tournament. the french doubles kept her there until yesterday. in all likelyhood, she would have gotten to birmingham today and practiced one to two days before her first match. she probobly would have lost.

i dont think that is the case because she has no points to defend and nothing to lose...she isnt looking to win this tournament but use it as practice. Dani has said herself she would rather play matches on a surface constantly than practice on it. Its why she plays such a large amount of tourneys.

grass is Daniela´s favourite surface and there are only 3 tournaments a year. So I don´t think she´d skip it w/o having an injury.

Well I guess (I hope!!!) it's nothing serious, IMO she didn't have enough time to practice on grass.

Hopefully its just precautionary, but what a shame getting an injury at the start of the grass season. No points to defend here, so maybe its a blessing in disguise. She can be well rested for wimbledon and do some damage there.

It wipes out my fill in the draw game.
