Vee should be proud of her record of JHH, the funny thing i always think is the first time they ever played on clay in Berlin i think JHH won 6-3 6-0 then vee completley owned her after that, plus Vee has a great record against Hantuchova 8-0 or something isint it

For two top players to not play in 3 and 1/2 years is :cuckoo:

I know. This would certainly tell us how good Henin really is or how much Venus has lost from her best form. Two incredible athletes and two determined champions. This would make for one intriguing encounter on all surfaces other than grass. Venus would clearly be the favorite there.

Oh Sandrine was a great player, boy what grit she had. She had an awesome serve for her size. She clocked it over 110mph regularly. She gave the top players so much fit. She had some interesting matches with Davenport and Serena, didn't she beat them when they were about to regain or gain the #1 ranking? She was a much better version of Schiavone, a solid top 15 player who gives fits to just about anyone, surprisingly Hingis had her number, her variety seemed to trouble Testud, who apparently loved pace.

She definitely should be. Justine won that match 6-1, 6-4 by the way and it was all the more impressive because Venus had just won the Hamburg tournament in impressive fashion.

Not that Impressive to me...during those days.. and even now...Venus would still tend to lose to players she hasnt played before, and I think that it's a 1R match.
In that Hamburg 2001 tournament..Venus said that she was even surprise at how well she played in that tournament 12(?) games lost. Cuz even when she mishit a shot..it would still go in...

Venus 8-0 Hantuchova
Lost only one set in 02 AO where Venus was injured.

Two mistakes: Sue Barker had three career wins over Navratilova (2-6 6-6 6-2 in the Tokyo S/F, 1976 ; 7-6 6-4 Hollywood Q/F 1977 ; 7-5 6-4 R/R Virginia Slims Championships 1977). Anne Smith DOES have a win over Martina on her record: Navratilova had a rare default after losing the first set to Anne at the Player's Canadian Opn in Toronto, in August 1980.

Jo Durie might not have beaten Martina, but lots of other British players did : Virginia Wade beat her 7 times, Sue Barker three times, but more surprisingly Lesley Charles, Glynis Coles and Veronica Burton all did too: Glynis twice, and Burton at the US Open one year!!

STEFFI GRAF!

Tauziat - 21-0

Martinez - 13-1

MJFernandez - 15-0

Zvereva - 18-1:eek:

Novotna - 25-4 (one of novotna's wins was by default)

Sukova - 10-0

Klodhe-Kilsch - 12-2 (lost the first 2 when only 14)

Garrison - 12-2

Rubin - 11-0

Judy Weisner - 11-0

Mannon bollegraf - 4-0 (managed only 9 games in all four matches, never more than 2 games in a set)

Maggie Maleeva - 8-0

Katerina Maleeva - 11-0

Manuela Maleeva - 17-0

Capriati - 10-1

Majoli - 7-0 (not a set!)

it would be hard to find a mre impressive record than that.

yes well said i was never a huge fan or anything Testud was good, she beat Capriati in the YEC in 2001 quaters in a tight match aswell plus beat Dementieva in a titanic like 7-6 in the third, lena actually used to be bad in 3 setters and beat Vee in 02 in Dubai i have a hingis - Testud match on video it was their last match Sydney 02 6-4 6-2, i think the reason why Hingis would always win was because she was so consistent and Testud couldnt play a whole match with her best tennis to beat her as martina didnt have any blips as the other top players she beat did

Venus - JHH

2001 Berlin 16 Henin 61 64
2001 Wimbledon F Venus 61 36 60
2001 New Haven QF Venus 63 57 62
2002 Gold Coast F Venus 75 62
2002 Antwerp SF Venus 63 57 63
2002 Amelia Island F Venus 26 75 76
2002 Wimbledon SF Venus 63 62

Oddly enough, after JHH beat her, Venus gave her SO much credit saying "if she played like that every day, she'd be #1 in the world"

Sandrine was one of those players who seemed to keep her A game for matches against the top players. It always seems like she gave the top 5 such a tough work out then fall just short of winning.
