Top Seeds To Meet In Repeat Of 2005 Final

Womens Singles:

Defending champion Kristina Brandi of Puerto Rico will meet Laura Granville of America on Saturday in a repeat of last year's final.

Brandi, seeded number two, defeated fellow Puerto Rican Vilmarie Castellvi in straight sets 6-3, 7-5 to reach the final and will be aiming to raise the Surbiton Trophy for the third time having won the title last year and in 2003.

However, top seed Granville will be wanting to reverse last year's 3-6, 1-6 defeat in the final. Granville with a world ranking of 48 is comfortably the highest ranked player in the tournament with Brandi ranked at 101.

The 25 year old American proved to be to strong today against Britian's number one Anne Keothavong winning through in straight sets 6-2, 6-3. The British number one also faced Granville last year in the second round but was forced to retire with an injury at 6-1, 3-1.

Many players over the years have played this tourney as a nice start up warm up for Wimbledon. It also takes place the 2nd week of the French. So allot of players just stay overseas rather then go all the way back home and then come back. This tourney should really be a 50K. ;)

sorry to be so bitchy :wavey:

The ITF Challengers is where all the action takes place, and Surbiton has been known to draw some strong players so this win for Kristina is excellent. :wavey:
