I haven't really heard of any great juniors for a while now.

Azarenka has been touted as a great prospect, but she's already playing the tour. Same goes for Wozniacki.

Anybody know any 14 year-olds starting to emerge?

Alexis Jones, duh. Haven't you heard? She has had her own website since she was 3 and a half. Her daddy updates it every day:p ;) ...

Well if you look at it, while there are many 18 and 19 year-olds entering the top 50, breaking into the top five, or even the top ten, before the age of 20 is getting very difficult.

It seems that just one junior player every two years or more actually has what it takes to get into the top five before the age of 20.

2004-05 Possibly Vaidisova?
2002-03 Sharapova
2000-01 Kuznetsova
1998-99 Clijsters/Henin
1996-97 Hingis (bearing in mind she was still junior age)/Venus/Serena

Well, unless she's particularly high in the under 12s, I don't think there's any reason to think she'll be a star. Elke Clijsters also played tennis, as did Jeanne Evert.

Looking at her records she's won a few tournaments but I'm not too clued up about juniors.

I heard she's around the same level Maria was at her age.

The Romanians seem to have caught the Russian greatness bug.

Also, Azarenka, Pavlyuchenkova, and Wozniacki. Whats with the former communist countries producing amazing players? Wozniackis parents are both from Poland mind you.

heard good things about brito. daria sharapova i'm not sure about. but when she was at nasdaq a last year they said they were expecting her to be playing in the junior draw in a couple of years.

whatever but Pavlyuchenkova needs to change her last name, or at least their spelling, if she became top player. it's too long and difficult to remember :o

and funny on how people treat Daria Sharapova as if she is Maria's lil daughter. even Steffi's kids don't have such hype around them

i can't really remember but i think she had something to do with drawing the girls draw or something. or maybe she was just there to see maria. it was around the time she got to the final of her first tournament so right when the hype started and people were saying in whatever year we will have a daria vs maria wimbledon final.

she probably trains in florida doesn't she? being at the tournament wouldn't be a huge stretch.

Agreed. I don't think it's too late for her, but her attitude needs to change, and she has to find a good coach.

Just done some research on Dasha (Daria Sharapova) and she's won 6 titles this year 5 G12 and 1 G14 and in her last tournament she lost to the first seed in the semis (4-6; 6-3; 7-5) which was also a G14.

So she's not doing too badly for an 11 year old.

Kristina is very talented along with Cornet, who may be the French's next hope for a title at Roland Garros because Alize is a clay expert.

On every surface besides clay, Wozniacki is very good. She can stil play on clay. She beat Cornet last year @ RG and lost a heartbreaker to her this year. She's not a longshot on clay at all. On rebound ace, grass, indoors, and hardcourts I give the edge to Wozniacki over Cornet. ;)

Ayumi Morita :) I hope so

She is supposed to be the best tennis player ever from Japan and is hoped to be the next Kimiko Date. She is very talented and has beaten top 100 player Aiko Nakamura already
