Well after her Aus Open loss nobody heard from her for a while. Then she lost Q1 of a 25K to some nobody like a month ago or so and hasnt played since. Apparently she's currently training and being coached by Dado Majoli, Iva Majoli's brother. She's supposed to come back for a tournament next month in Zagreb. I might be wrong though.

Apparently, she spent the last 2, months training with Dado Majoli. She is making a good progress, in fact, so well that after Dado reported to Iva, she granted her a wildcard to her event in Zagreb.

A week before, she is supposed to play qualifiying event at some $25k (I think) tournament in Italy.

We'll see how it goes, and I am going to stay optimistic after reading how well she's starting to play.

i hate to be a nit-pick, but Jelena switched over from Australian to Yugoslavian right before the tournament, right?

Yeah she did. But I just put her current nationality in the initial post.

yeah, it could be her too. i forgot about her.

....... Oh my, I remember watching this match... Such controversy... Liz Smylie couldn't help but show her dissatisfaction with Jelena Dokic's (Damir's really!!!) decision and if it weren't for the fact that she was on national television, I think she'd let it rip.

I'm not sure if people remember this, but Damir Dokic said that Jelena might be leaving Australia, REGARDLESS of the outcome of this match.

But I seriously have to say, Jelena Dokic was great in this match, normally girls would just crumble and self-destruct under her outrageous situation, but Jelana Dokic comes out against the #2 seed and takes a set off her. I really believed she could win this match when she won that first set, she didn't but that's all right, Jelena showed she has the game in her.

I would also like to point out, on Lindsay Davenport's match point, someone in the crowd yelled out "DO IT FOR AUSTRALIA, LINDSAY". Such is the ignorance and misunderstanding of Jelena Dokic in Australia. I found it ironical that in January this year, at her match against Razzano, the crowd started to hurl verbal abuse at Razzano and support Jelena Dokic in the way they would support footballers. It's really quite stupid.

But hey, thanks for the upload.

It was good for the crowd to be like they were with Jelena and Razzano in 06 it was like a footy match so lively and supportive i liked it

May 28th, 2006, 04:34 AM
.... I don't think calling Razzano an "idiot" was very nice. Nor do I think heckling her to "OH, HURRY UP!!!" when she was wiping her fogged up glasses was really nice either. Neither was yelling "HURRY UP AND GET OUT THERE" when Jelena Dokic was almost ready to serve and Razzano was just making her way out from her chair.

The match was lively, which I am happy for, being supportive, yes I like that too, but being supportive by denigrating and abusing her opponent? No, I don't like that. it doesn't belong in tennis.

All i am saying is dont knock the dok lol yeah some points did go over the top but come on we all love Jelena

hdfb
May 28th, 2006, 05:27 AM
You just don't get it, do you? I am not knocking Jelena Dokic, she is my favourite player, and yes, we all love Jelena, but that can never justify the crowd's behaviour. Never.

I do get it actually, I thought it was good to have such passion in tennis again let the crowd be loose and yell things thats what they do oh well differing opinions NEXT p.s great video that match rocks

May 28th, 2006, 06:31 AM
No, I don't think you get it. How do you think Razzano felt as the victim of verbal abuse? I am surprised she still held her nerve together and won, and even acknowledged the crowd at the end.

May 28th, 2006, 07:06 AM
Yeah well I know it was bad in stages, the crowd was very one eyed I do agree some comments were bad but thats sport, look how Jelena was treated in 01 in the Lindz match crowd was yelling our Do it for AUS Lindsay
