I think that Amelie should be extremely careful with Meghann

Hantuchova, Likhovtseva, Golovin and Srebotnik are potential upsets too.

Justine seems to be in good form but she has a strange record of doing great at RG one y ear, and then totally flopping the next. . . so hopefully she'll stay focused this time around!

I think at least one of these matchups could see an upset:

1: Mauresmo v Shaughnessy

7: Schnyder v Krajicek

16: Vaidisova v Domachowska

I can't believe people are picking Morigami over Petrova.

UDACHi
May 27th, 2006, 01:47 AM
I think, while Meghann is in great form, Amelie probably won't be losing in the 1R. It seems a lot like the 2004 AO, in which Amelie drew the red hot Sam Stosur, and people went nuts, then Amelie crushed her 6-2 6-3.

I think Safina, Likhovtseva, Hantuchova, and Golovin all are in trouble. Of those four I think Safina will win and the others all go down. I hope they all win though especially Tati and Elena.

Dechy could be in trouble as well since she has been awful all year.

I think that Amelie should be extremely careful with Meghann

Hantuchova, Likhovtseva, Golovin and Srebotnik are potential upsets too.

Meghann has never really been a problem for Amelie and they have never met on clay. But, Meghann has done well on clay and Amelie isn't as prepared as she wants to be. So you are right Mauresmo does need to be careful.

Elena D and Patty and only because they are so inconsisitent, they have a knack for losing even when they look to have the goods.(Either that or they go all the way!) I don't see venus upset this early, she is ususally this erratic coming off a long layoff/injury but she has a few matches under her belt now.

As expected, we've lost Golovin today.

Kirilenko and Medina Garrigues aren't looking too good either...

Still the typical first round major upset has not occured yet, maybe Henin and Petrova should start to get seriously worried ;)

For a moment I thought there would be no major upsets this year, since Sharapova cheated with the pigeons ;) - but it seems it had to be Petrova.

3: Petrova v Morigami Defeated in R1
4: Sharapova v Washington Through to R2
5: Henin v Ani Through to R2
6: Dementieva v Sucha Through to R2
7: Schnyder v Krajicek Through to R2

Although we are still missing two, the seeds did rather well this year. But what the hell happened with Petrova?

EDIT: Sorry, somehow missed Peer - as a Myskina fan, must be something psuchological, no doubt ;)

So seeds out in R1 are Petrova, Likhovsteva, Golovin, Safarova, and Koukalova.

Obviously Petrova is the biggest surprise. I think Golovin is the only one I predicted.

I can't believe people are picking Morigami over Petrova.

drake, thank you.

i was a bit surprised for having made a number of them correctly.

it was actually more of morigami's winning chances against petrova that prompted me to predict an upset rather than petrova's chances of losing. it's sad because i thought nadia had very good preparations for this slam.
