Zheng will probably win in two. It is a very tough match for Tati.

I love Tati, but I think Jie is too much for a 1st match back.

40th ranked Zheng does not appear to be a player to run around being afraid of, is not like she is playing Clijsters... I hope Tati enters the match with a very different attitude... ;)

Zheng.

Tatiana has never performed exceptionally at Roland Garros, hasnt played on clay all year; whereas Zheng has won a title on clay and has done well on it.

Zheng.

Tatiana has never performed exceptionally at Roland Garros, hasnt played on clay all year; whereas Zheng has won a title on clay and has done well on it.

Zheng lost in the first round of her first 6 tournaments this year. The clay tournament she won was a tier IV and she beat only one player inside the top 70 (Penetta) on route. Tati won in their only meeting this year, and all things considered, Zheng should not be considered some massive obstacle as some suggest....

It won't be easy for Tati.

I think Zheng has a good chance to win this match, :scared:

Blonde is so last year ;)

If Tati plays half as good as she did on her last match, she'd win in 3.

Tati of course - but I think it would be a win in three sets.
Good luck Tati!

Zheng also pushed Petrova to 3 very close sets in Berlin, where Petrova went on to win. :wavey:

So because she recently had one good third round match we are suddenly suppose to ignore her ranking and results for the year and conclude she is now a major obstacle for everyone? I hope you know better than that... :wavey: at you suggestion, but I do not know what the :wavey: means other than goodbye and I`ll be online a while....

I take it you know about the ankle injury, well she is reportedly doing well and practicing in Paris for her first round match against Zheng. :D

I wouldn't ignore anyone who has pushed their ranking from the 60's to the 30's in one month. It isn't like Golovin is in hot form.

No one is saying to "ignore" her. But proclaiming Tati as toast, Zheng "too strong" is absurd. Zheng has played two clay court tournaments this year, the first she went out in a close match to Petrova, good, but then in her next outing went out in the second round of a tier IV to 131st ranked Kremer... And Zheng, by the way, is currently ranked 40th.... ;)

Tati hasn't played on clay this year, so i thinck Jie has a great chance to get her revenge.

I voted Zheng in 3. I don't she will simply blow Golovin off the court.

Zheng may win, but given the facts I`d never bet on it. And to be fair I did forget about Estoril, tier IV clay where she won but didn`t beat anyone higher than 70th other than Penetta.

Zheng in 2 or 3.

Have to say I've never seen Tati play tho. But based on Tati's injury and recovery, and Jie's momentum, I'd put money on Jie.

I am still amazed that so many are erecting this shrine to Zheng, who lost in the first round of her first six tournaments this year, lost her last match to the world #131 Kremer.... Anyone with some cash they want to bet that Zheng wins in two, PM me... ;)

The problem is that we don't know about Tati's condition after her injury, and we do know Zheng is performing. That's why the current thinking is as it is. You are looking back which can usually be helpful but in this case that goes out the window.

Anyone who says Zheng does not have the "mental" does not know her well. I would say Zheng is the most mentally strong of all the Chinese players.

Yeah, if anything, I'd say Jie has the mental more than the tennis! Nah, I've only seen her play doubles but she has quite the finesse game, not big on power. The finesse game can get you a title too, as we know.

Some seem to assume that Tati is still hobling around... Others seem to conclude that she is playing some giant here in Zheng because she took Petrova to three sets a couple of weeks ago. Well how did she follow that up? With a second round lose to #131 Kremer..... Yea, looking back stays well inside the window when some seem to conclude Zheng is a major force. I`m sure Tati is not shivering in her sneakers... ;)
