(duh! I'm a fan, I'm nervous to see her play again :p)

May 26th, 2006, 04:15 PM
The two Q vs Q on Mauresmo's and Kuznetsova's 1/8.

But seriously:

Ivanovic vs Stosur

Schnyder vs Krajicek (Schnyder seems to relish schooling one-dimensional youngsters, but the way things have been as of late anything is possible)

ALG vs Pin (should be a hoot; one of the hardest hitters on the Tour vs one of the weakest)

Sanchez Lorenzo vs Pironkova (hawtness  )

Golovin vs Zheng (I smell blood)

Hantuchova vs Dominguez Lino (normally would have upset written all over it - a pesky expert vs a clay clown - but Dominguez Lino has retired from her last two matches)

May 26th, 2006, 04:16 PM
I voted Mashona vs. Sharapova
Do you think Mashona has a chance to beat her? :D

May 26th, 2006, 04:16 PM
Loves that you included Camerin vs. Gagliardi.

Good taste, my fellow WTAworldian.

May 26th, 2006, 04:55 PM
i consider shaughnessy v. mauresmo to be an interesting match up as well, given meghann's rabat title, and amelie returning to roland garros as a GS champ

May 26th, 2006, 04:56 PM
Golovin vs. Zheng

Tatiana Golovin vs. Jie Zheng

May 26th, 2006, 05:25 PM
Zvonareva vs. Safina
Both players deserved at least 3rd round :(

May 26th, 2006, 05:29 PM
Sania match I guess.. Safina is on fire!!!

May 26th, 2006, 05:44 PM
Dinara Safina vs. Vera Zvonareva is the most interesting for me. Obviously if Vera is in her current form Safina should win easily but I still think Vera can find her old form.

Krajicek vs. Schynder and Tati vs. Zheng are also very interesting.

May 26th, 2006, 05:47 PM
Tatiana Golovin vs. Jie Zheng

Agreed. Zheng can beat her.

May 26th, 2006, 05:59 PM
didn't see Amelie vs. Meghann in the poll. That should be interesting. THe pressure is on Amelie as # 1 and Meghann just won her first tournament in years (ON CLAY)

May 26th, 2006, 06:05 PM
Michaella Krajicek NED vs. Patty Schnyder SUI (7)

May 26th, 2006, 06:07 PM

May 26th, 2006, 06:08 PM

There are a lot of fascinating first round match ups involving top players and not all of them are cake walks, either.

May 26th, 2006, 06:26 PM
Tati vs Jie can be interesting if Tati is in form or else it's going to be one-sided. :o Same goes to Dina vs Bepa.

I think the most interesting one would be Misa vs Patty. But I still voted for Tati vs Jie because I'm supposed to click on Tati's name whenever there's a pool on the board

May 26th, 2006, 07:11 PM
sania vs Myskina...I think morigami vs petrova can be tough as well..

May 26th, 2006, 07:17 PM
Golovin v Zheng
Ivanovic v Stosur (AO anyone? )
Zvonareva v Safina

May 26th, 2006, 07:18 PM
jie vs tatiana

Hantuchova vs Dominguez-Lino would be interesant too

May 26th, 2006, 07:25 PM
Myskina vs. Mirza could be carazy.

May 26th, 2006, 07:26 PM
Myskina vs Mirza

May 26th, 2006, 08:33 PM
Myskina and Mirza makes me nervous...:scared:

May 26th, 2006, 08:36 PM
The most interesting match for me is Mauresmo - Shaughnessy, I hope Amelie wins!

May 26th, 2006, 08:37 PM
Vera vs. Dina
Tati vs. Jie
Sania vs. Nastya

these 3 matches interest me the most but i doubt ESPN will show them :o unless they're on show courts

May 26th, 2006, 08:37 PM
I hate first rounds :scared:

May 26th, 2006, 08:40 PM
Vera Zvonareva RUS vs. Dinara Safina RUS (14)

May 26th, 2006, 09:47 PM
voted for Krajicek vs Schnyder

but I don't know why I think almost all of these matches are going to be packed in straight sets by the winner...

May 26th, 2006, 10:34 PM
myskina vs. Mirza
Zvonereva vs. Safina
Stosur vs. Ivanovic

May 27th, 2006, 06:04 AM
Tatiana Golovin FRA vs. Jie Zheng CHN

May 27th, 2006, 06:21 AM
Zvonareva - Safina, assuming Vera can find some decent form.
Krajicek - Schnyder; up-and-coming talent versus veteran headcase.
Golovin - Zheng, assuming Tatiana is healthy enough to be competitive.
Ivanovic - Stosur; to see if Sam can back up her clay court results.

And two that in all likelihood won't end up being close at all, but on paper look intriguing:

Mauresmo - Shaughnessy; RG pressure begins early for Amelie
Clijsters - Razzano; Kim's no fan of clay, and Razzano has the home crowd... probably a route for Kim, but if she's off and Razzano's hot, it could be closer than expected.

I guess Myskina - Mirza could be a good one, but if Anastasia plays well I could see it being a quick match.

May 27th, 2006, 06:30 AM
Zvonereva and Safina one will be a juicy one :bounce:

May 27th, 2006, 06:41 AM
Myskina vs. Mirza will be a complete blowout IMO in Anastasia's favor. Mirza has been slumping and clay is her worst surface, while Anastasia is coming off a very good week in Strasbourg.

Given Mashona has only 1 clay court win over someone inside the top 100 (and that was Bondarenko last year, who was barely inside the top 100 at the time), Maria will get through that match comfortably. Ankle injury, leg injury, full body cast, I don't care...even Maria at half steam is still too much for Mashona on clay.

If I were fortunate enough to be at RG for the first two days, here are the matches I would be checking out...

Mauresmo vs. Shaughnessy
Sugiyama vs. Danilidou
Sprem vs. Likhovtseva
Molik vs. Serra-Zanetti
Srebotnik vs. Smashnova
Kutuzova vs. King
Diaz-Oliva vs. Martinez-Granados

May 27th, 2006, 07:47 AM
Vera Zvonareva RUS vs. Dinara Safina RUS (14)

Small mistake earlier: Anastasia is playing in Istanbul :)

May 27th, 2006, 08:01 AM
Safina - Zvonareva
Mirza - Nastya
Krajicek- Schnyder

Marat - Gonzalez , lol

udachi Elena
May 27th, 2006, 11:31 AM
Tatiana Golovin FRA (23) vs. Jie Zheng CHN

Definitely this one for sure. They had a tough match in Miami with tati prevailing, but as her first match back, it promises to be interesting
