Every year vee's losses at the french have become proggresively worse for eg
01: 1st round, Schett played well, vee didnt play dreadfully but too many UE

02: Final, played a bad match really but so did serena really

03: 4th round, against zvonereva her forehand was all over the place in the final set hit over 70 UE but she was injured

04: quater final arguably her worst loss of all just played so erratic against myskina who did nothing special just played solid and what an oppurtunity that match was could have won RG just never looked close to getting it together her movement just wasnt what it should have been that may have been due to her sprained ankle of course

05: 3rd round, prob the most embarrasing match of vee's career at times it looked like she didnt care but we all know what happened after that loss  at wimbledon

So will vee break the trend and not lose in another shocker, it cant get worse than last year, i think if she is to lose which i hope she wont to any1 but lenaD then it wont be as bad a match as the last couple, what does every1 else think

whats she seeded 10th?she should get to the 4th round or quarterfinals IF she keeps her ue's down or a dangerous floater could take her out,or if she pulls a pironkova but i dont think it will happen.

i don't know. Venus is not predictable lately.
Rome showed some good moments but you never know.

since 1997, Venus makes it to the qf 1year on two. if that's a rule she will make it to the quarter this year.

98(qf),00(qf),02(final),04(qf),06(??)....

let's see.

Venus a majority of the time plays poorly against Serena
and vice versa. I also think Venus really wanted Serena
to get on the board again after her 2 1/2 year drought.

And Venus shouldn't have even been in Paris
in 03'. Upon reflection she would've definitely
heeded both Richard & Serena's advice and sat
that one out with the stomach injury.

RG is never gona be Venus' best place, but she
can play and imo she's in far better form than last
year which is surprising considering the layoff. I personally
feel very relaxed and at ease with where Venus is at right
now form wise & mentally. The biggest difference from any of
the years mentioned is the fight. We know for certain now Venus
doesn't give up or just let go. So, even if she were to struggle in the
1st few rounds(which I don't think she will) she'll be more likely to find
her way through them and post wins.

Given the situation, I'm going into this simply loving
that she's playing and even more that she's eager to play.
Venus has definitely been backing up her words in this short
time period that her wanting to get back to the top and dominate
aren't just words.

She'll do quite well I think.

I believe she'll win it one year, I have no clue what year it'll be though. It'll be super if she could get it done this year and get it out the way. It would also be special to see Amelie win.

No, Venus will make the SF

Then her odds would be good
for making it to the Finals at
least.

Of her 14 SF appearances, she
only been stopped all of three
times from getting to the finals.

01' was the last time she
was stopped at a SF.

Vee's QF defeat to Myskina was so funny, she was hitting volleys on the baseline almost!

The QF of a Slam is not the time to be experimenting Venus ;)

It seems nowadays that she uses the French as a warm up for Wimbledon.

Still, I'll be cheering for her to win in Paris over most others.

Only way Venus lose early because she have to many errors...Noone really just outplayed her to win..

Very True!!!!

Not to take anything away from the others
but Venus' errors decided those matches.

On clay her errors are far more
detrimental to her chances
than on any other surfce.

For Venus, she needs to get into a rhythm early in the tournament. That is key for her success. Her serve must be clicking and she must remain consistent and aggresive at the same time. If Venus faisl to find that rhythm, I see her having trouble like the other years she had issues.

I kno i remember vee just hitting silly shots with no pace and myskina just brushed them past but i think she still hadnt gotten her confidence of her movement back after spraining her ankle, her movement was poor that day but its better for her and me not to dwell on it cause im sure she isint anyway :)

she has her braid back she had at wimbledon she is ready and raring to go... I think this is the time she loves when everyone undersestimates her and then.. The rolandgarros.com has underestimated her giving Amelie a clear path to the finals.. read the website... Are they serious?

Who knows. You would've thought, coming in form in 2004, she would have won the tournament (given who was left in the draw).. so maybe this year, coming in a bit questionable (ala Wimbledon '05), she'll do well.

I think Venus will probably lose to Peng this year. I don't think she's made the adjustments to her game to be the better clay court player. The ability is there but I wonder if the will is there, especially if it means hurting her chances at Wimbledon.

It's probably would be just easier to side bet on it. ;) How about you put your vcash where your mouth is. A hundred on Peng beating Venus for me and a hundred on Venus beating Peng for you. If Peng doesn't make it to the third round, then I'll still donate you a hundred. If Venus doesn't, which even I doubt, then you have to donate me a hundred. Sounds fair?
