the result is not sure 6-4 6-3 (or 4) but another upset for Patty...

I agree with vogus. While it's likely that Muller won, it's still not 100% certain.

they put Li-Deschy in the SB...

The website doesn't show the final score in the sb sometimes :retard:

But I'm afraid the outcome is that Patty lost. :(

the SB had reversed the service indicator, which led to the appearance that there were 15 breaks of serve in 19 games - so the actual result could be reversed as well. There is also some confusion about the outcome of Zheng/Domachovska.

Either way, their match is over. Now, we just have to find out who the winner was. :o

I hope it was a "take the appearance fee money and run" and not that Patty sucks so bad she's a second round casualty at a Tier III.

so OJ Patty did go to Strasbourg for the appearance fee.

There's also the chance her Gold Exempt status required her to play an additional TIII this season (unlikely; she must be on the #7-10 slots of the Gold Exempt list, and those only have to play one TIII).

No, as Eggy can confirm, the GE's are NOT sequenced in ranking order. Anyhow, much as I'm happy for Tina, aka Cute Little Button Nose, I won't use the "Housekeeper of the Week" line because (as Helen suggested) PP may have "taken herself out". (Even if it wasn't an appearance fee thing, maybe entering was fulfilling a Gold Exempt commitment).

(Just checked, and PP is #12 on the '06 GE list).

I know, because there's also that "marquee value" assessed by the tournament directors thing. But even so, Schnyder can't be ranked lower than 10 on the GEL. Tournament directors must love her - and will love her even more if she keeps pulling this kind of stunt.

Which means two TIIIs. She's already played them both, then.

Not really too surprising. Patty has been playing pretty poorly recently. I don't think she will be in the top 10 much longer.

maximum appearance fee that this tournie would have paid is 15-20 thousand.

Patty canceled her appearance at the Barcelona exho for this, so she must have gotten something. Fulfilling the GE requirement is a likely explanation.

patty has nearly nothing to defend in the next two slams, she will be in the top 10 for much longer, she has a victoryover justine on clay this year...the last tournaments were a little slump, but it will be over next week

for the ranking this loss means absolutely nothing. The only bad thing about it is that it ends Patty's streak of 29 straight victories against players ranked outside the Top 50.

I really wish it was a genuine victory for Tina, but I strongly suspect a "going thru the motions" thing here by PP. (I don't think Hoffy is stupid enough to want her really playing a 4th straight week B4 RG. The racquets story on their website you mentioned sounds like a convenient excuse).

BTW, this has nothing to do with Rainer's Rapsheet, players without a Former Felon running their careers might well have done the same thing given the circumstances. Anyhow, Tina gets another notable win vs. a Suissie on her record. (Her only title was Budapest '02 ova Myriam in the final, coincidentally the same week PP was the RU to Iva in Charleston).

As selfish as it would be, I hope this loss is just Patty picking up an appearance fee and then tanking, as others have suggested. Or else just an easy way to get a required Tier III out of the way. I'm a bit worried with Patty's play recently - I don't want to see a return of the inconsistent headcase she was a few years back. Get some rest, and let's have a good run at RG, Patty. :)

Relatively speaking, JR. :p She's been more consistent in her recent return to the top 10, at least as far as not losing to random players outside the top 50. Of course Patty is still a headcase - but it's mostly been against top players since she returned to the top 10.

Still drinking that Haterade, sweetie? She still beat Juju in Charleston, no matter what she's done in Strasbourg. She's still a contender. She just has to bring her best tennis at the right time. :D
