Who will win it out of these favourites?
The Ultimate Roland Garros PollE. Blackadder May 22nd, 2006, 07:42 PM Who will win it out of these favourites? FedExpress May 22nd, 2006, 07:44 PM Who will win it out of these favourites? I can't see any of these favourites :help: E. Blackadder May 22nd, 2006, 07:45 PM I can't see any of these favourites :help: Patience is noble virtue. I can't type 10 names in 10 seconds ;) FedExpress May 22nd, 2006, 07:49 PM Patience is noble virtue. I can't type 10 names in 10 seconds ;) Okay, I'm sorry. I don't know that. :) I think Justine Henin-Hardenne can win the FO if she is healthy. manu32 May 22nd, 2006, 07:50 PM not a fan but henin ...... FedExpress May 22nd, 2006, 07:53 PM not a fan but henin ...... same thing here... I'm not a fan but I think it's hard to beat her if she is 100 % healthy. E. Blackadder May 22nd, 2006, 07:54 PM I have always said that Svetlana has the perfect game with her heavy top-spin strokes to win the FO, same for Amelie, but the question is can they keep their head together? I think it'll be either Justine or Martina AsGoodAsNew May 22nd, 2006, 07:55 PM I can't believe it, but I have a hunch - not a real one! - that Nadia might surprise everyone! Martina won Rome, but it's quite a way from Paris! E. Blackadder May 22nd, 2006, 08:01 PM I can't believe it, but I have a hunch - not a real one! - that Nadia might surprise everyone! Martina won Rome, but it's quite a way from Paris! Actually Rome is 1447 km from Paris, while Berlin is only 1051.8 km from Paris according to my GPS system ;). Clijsters would be at 1592 km with her Warsaw win RJWCapriati May 22nd, 2006, 08:08 PM Mary Pierce :yeah: :) Ferosh May 22nd, 2006, 08:12 PM Nadia Petrova ~Carsten~ May 22nd, 2006, 08:19 PM well I hope that in RR will win an other player. ;) iPatty May 22nd, 2006, 08:20 PM Line 4 of your poll should look more like this: Maria Sharapova Patty Schnyder Anyway, Nadia gets my vote. DarkchildSwiss May 22nd, 2006, 08:23 PM Marti. Why not? I think that everything is possible. E. Blackadder May 22nd, 2006, 08:24 PM Line 4 of your poll should look more like this: Maria Sharapova Patty Schnyder Anyway, Nadia gets my vote. I didn't want to risk a zillion red dots from Maria-addicts for not including Sharapova ;) TonyP May 22nd, 2006, 08:30 PM I have to say that, before Rome, I would have made Hingis a real dark horse --a very long shot. But in Rome a couple of things happened that probably changed that. She beat Venus, and got that worry off her back. Secondly, she won her first tournament back, so that worry is over with, too. I thinks she now goes into Roland Garros a lot more confident and a lot less nervous. She has also shown some amazingly aggressive, all court tennis, which is working well for her on clay. And since she just won six matches in seven days, she is obviously got the endurance now to do it. As said in another thread, I think she is now one of about five women with a real shot at this title. No.1Hingis May 22nd, 2006, 08:38 PM Firstable, I want it and is a serious contender.. Martina of course.. (you get Rome and RG champion?) If not.. Justine or Nadia have same chance I think.. (Berlin and RG Champion?) and finally.. with less chance but maybe cant suprise me.. Kuznetsova or Kim.. (Warsaw and RG Champion?) I guess this could be my favourites for semis.. would be great... all winner or runner for the last clay Tier I and II tournaments.. 1.- Warsaw (TII): winner Kim (2) runner Kuznetsova (10) 2.- Berlin (TI): winner Nadia (3) runner Henin (5) 3.- Rome (TI): winner Martina (14) Lemonskin. May 22nd, 2006, 08:40 PM Call me crazy, but I'll be quietly putting some vCash on Nadia. No Name Face May 22nd, 2006, 08:42 PM Elena Dementieva watchdogfish May 22nd, 2006, 09:03 PM Amélie Mauresmo Hagar May 22nd, 2006, 09:07 PM Real favourites in my opinion: Henin, Petrova, Kuzzie, Kim, Mauresmo. Best chance for Henin coz she does know how to win the trophy in Paris. Then Kim, coz she knows how to get to the final... and she's a fantastic clay courter (despite what everyone and she herself say). Kuzzie's got the game. I think the pressure will be too big on Mauresmo. She can win more slams but the mental pressure will always be enormous in Paris. Petrova idem, I don't see her able to keep her cool. Hingis and Venus as outsiders. Hingis must be smelling her chance now that she has won Rome. Boy, if she wins Paris, that would be absolutely awesome. Perfection May 22nd, 2006, 09:07 PM Hingis.. TomTennis May 22nd, 2006, 09:26 PM Always vote and believe in my girl Venus! :bounce: Go and show em Vee! :worship: Piotr'ek May 22nd, 2006, 09:28 PM Hingis winning :spit: :speakles: :rolls: :drink:  :p MrSerenaWilliams May 22nd, 2006, 09:42 PM As it stands right now. Most people think it will either be Venus, Nadia, Justine, or Martina. That seems to make the most sense. All four of them have been the most consistent at all of the clay events that they have played, reaching at least one semifinal and not losing before the quarterfinals at all this season. These four seem to make the most sense to me. I love Venus and I think she will only keep getting better, so...I voted for her, but I would be happy to see any of the afformentioned four take the title. Besides them, and Kimmy, I would be shocked to see anyone else win it, but then again, it is Roland Garros, anything can happen. QUEENLINDSAY May 22nd, 2006, 09:48 PM putting money on nadia is not a crazy bet. The girl has zero loss on clay this year and won 3 titles. UDACHi May 22nd, 2006, 09:51 PM Elena Dementieva I like the way you think. furrykitten May 22nd, 2006, 09:53 PM Out of the list other than Maria, who has no chance really for a few reasons, I want either Hingis or Dementieva to win, I voted Hingis, she has a great game. lolo21 May 22nd, 2006, 09:54 PM Martina is leading the poll, wow!! :bounce: who would have guessed that a few months ago???!! :) Il Primo! May 22nd, 2006, 09:54 PM Petrova didn't played this week so everyone forgot how good she was and is ;) So I vote for her LefandePatty May 22nd, 2006, 09:56 PM no Patty Schnyder in the poll :silly: :inlove: May 22nd, 2006, 10:00 PM Tough one. Petrova, Henin or Hingis. :) hablo May 22nd, 2006, 10:02 PM I hope for the unexpected winner : Mauresmo  bw2082 May 22nd, 2006, 10:09 PM unfortuantely I think Justine will again GrandSlam05 May 22nd, 2006, 10:10 PM Henin or Hingis. Most likely Henin. Mother_Marjorie May 22nd, 2006, 10:14 PM Its really difficult to rule out Justine. I do see Martina possibly making her first GS semi appearance since her comeback. Petrova and Clijsters will most definitely go deep into the draw. I think Mauresmo will be a wild card. Should she become inspired by the quarters and beat away the French expectations, she could likely be a factor in the second week. I think a lot depends on how the draw lays out. Whoever gets the most favorable draw could possibly be the last survivor standing. The French Open can be grueling. CrossCourt~Rally May 22nd, 2006, 10:15 PM My Top 5 picks to win the 2006 French Open ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. HINGIS 2. HENIN 3. KIM 4. NADIA 5. VENUS ----------------------------- Outside chances to MoMo and Maria. They are hurt..but u never know when there games could start clicking at the right moment . Mother_Marjorie May 22nd, 2006, 10:19 PM Elena Dementieva I've been very surprised by the lackluster play of Elena on clay this year. She's lost easily to players on clay that should have been tough matches. It will be interesting to see if she can bounce back at the slam, and rebuke her earlier losses on clay. SAEKeithSerena May 22nd, 2006, 10:31 PM Maria Sharapova or Nadia Petrova E. Blackadder May 23rd, 2006, 05:54 AM bump Andy. May 23rd, 2006, 06:16 AM Hingis Mauresmo Petrova Henin Kuznetsova They are the big 5 in my opinion. Venus will be a dark horse msharafan May 23rd, 2006, 06:17 AM i think sharapova may surprise us all, well thats just my gut feeling, all maria's fans on her thread, are saying theyd be happy her getting past the 3rd round due to injury and lack of match practice, but i have this feeling that theyre wrong and that maria will win RG 2006. i might be wrong but im feeling it happen, and im good at predictions PLP May 23rd, 2006, 09:22 AM Not sure if it is scary or awesome that Martina is leading this poll! I think it comes down to Hingis or Henin>P ctan88 May 23rd, 2006, 09:46 AM 1 - Henin 2 - Petrova 3 - Hingis 4 - V.williams 5 - Clijsters Beat May 23rd, 2006, 09:59 AM i guess henin is the top favourite. i can't believe clijsters has the least amount of votes in this poll - less than sharapova and dementieva :tape: forever_rafter May 23rd, 2006, 10:13 AM I hope for the unexpected winner : Mauresmo  same here ;) Barlos May 23rd, 2006, 05:34 PM While I quickly clicked on Martina without really thinking I do think Justine is favourite to take the title with the best competition coming from Martina, Amelie and Nadia. I wouldn't count out Svetlana, Kim or Venus either but I can't see anyone else going all the way. Haven't we had over 2 years with different Grand Slam champions? I could certainly see the run continuing with either Martina or Nadia taking this title. selyoink May 23rd, 2006, 06:22 PM Justine will beat Petrova in a three set final is my guess. If the draw allows it anyway. Billabong May 23rd, 2006, 06:57 PM Henin, Mauresmo, Petrova, Hingis and Kuznetsova are the favorites :) But I don't see any clear "favorite", even though I think Henin and Petrova are ahead of that group ;) janko May 23rd, 2006, 08:03 PM stop it with Hingis, she s not gonna win  hope for Suzanne Lenglen to come back from death and kick all these little bitchy asses! :worship:  IceHock May 23rd, 2006, 08:08 PM i really don't know!!there's not really one clear cut favorite to win,it's so open.if mauresmo plays good here, jhh is 100%,clijsters plays good, petrova keeps rolling, hingis is starting to look good.it's so open!!i can't name one.i'll tell yah early second week of rg. ivan88 May 23rd, 2006, 08:12 PM Martina Hingis:rocker2: anlavalle May 23rd, 2006, 08:21 PM [QUOTE=lolo21]Martina is leading the poll, wow!! :bounce: who would have guessed that a few months ago???!! :)[/QUOTE the power of jinx  Allez-H May 23rd, 2006, 08:50 PM It's really wide open this year. I think it'll probably between Martina, Justine and Nadia with Nadia being the top-fav. That is if she's recovered from the though schedule SvetaPleaseWin. May 23rd, 2006, 09:05 PM sveta :worship: Kenny May 23rd, 2006, 09:30 PM I believe in Venus Williams. E. Blackadder May 23rd, 2006, 10:13 PM lol at Kim having less votes than Dementieva bello May 23rd, 2006, 10:17 PM Justine or Kim parn2257 May 23rd, 2006, 10:25 PM I alway hope that it will be elena every year it will be like this but it never happen I still hope that this year will be a better season for elena lolo21 May 23rd, 2006, 10:55 PM wow,it's a close battle beetween Martina and Justine  my top 10 favourites for the FO in order would be: 1-Justine 2-Amelie(dunno why but even though she didn t have her best career clay season , i have a funny feeling she'll do well this time) 3-Martina (she said that one of the main reasons she came back was to win the FO.....enough said :) ) 4-Nadia (still has to prove she can go very far in a GS) 5-Kim 6-Svetlana 7-Venus 8-Patty 9-Elena 10-Sharapova | |
