I think Justine Henin-Hardenne can win the FO if she is healthy.

I have always said that Svetlana has the perfect game with her heavy top-spin strokes to win the FO, same for Amelie, but the question is can they keep their head together?

Actually Rome is 1447 km from Paris, while Berlin is only 1051.8 km from Paris according to my GPS system ;). Clijsters would be at 1592 km with her Warsaw win

I didn't want to risk a zillion red dots from Maria-addicts for not including Sharapova ;)

I have to say that, before Rome, I would have made Hingis a real dark horse --a very long shot. But in Rome a couple of things happened that probably changed that.

She beat Venus, and got that worry off her back.

Secondly, she won her first tournament back, so that worry is over with, too.

I thinks she now goes into Roland Garros a lot more confident and a lot less nervous.

She has also shown some amazingly aggressive, all court tennis, which is working well for her on clay. And since she just won six matches in seven days, she is obviously got the endurance now to do it.

As said in another thread, I think she is now one of about five women with a real shot at this title.

Firstable, I want it and is a serious contender.. Martina of course.. (you get Rome and RG champion?)

If not.. Justine or Nadia have same chance I think.. (Berlin and RG Champion?)

and finally.. with less chance but maybe cant suprise me.. Kuznetsova or Kim.. (Warsaw and RG Champion?)

I guess this could be my favourites for semis.. would be great... all winner or runner for the last clay Tier I and II tournaments..

Real favourites in my opinion: Henin, Petrova, Kuzzie, Kim, Mauresmo. Best chance for Henin coz she does know how to win the trophy in Paris. Then Kim, coz she knows how to get to the final... and she's a fantastic clay courter (despite what everyone and she herself say). Kuzzie's got the game. I think the pressure will be too big on Mauresmo. She can win more slams but the mental pressure will always be enormous in Paris. Petrova idem, I don't see her able to keep her cool.
Hingis and Venus as outsiders. Hingis must be smelling her chance now that she has won Rome. Boy, if she wins Paris, that would be absolutely awesome.

As it stands right now. Most people think it will either be Venus, Nadia, Justine, or Martina. That seems to make the most sense. All four of them have been the most consistent at all of the clay events that they have played, reaching at least one semifinal and not losing before the quarterfinals at all this season. These four seem to make the most sense to me. I love Venus and I think she will only keep getting better, so...I voted for her, but I would be happy to see any of the afformentioned four take the title. Besides them, and Kimmy, I would be shocked to see anyone else win it, but then again, it is Roland Garros, anything can happen.

putting money on nadia is not a crazy bet. The girl has zero loss on clay this year and won 3 titles.

Out of the list other than Maria, who has no chance really for a few reasons, I want either Hingis or Dementieva to win, I voted Hingis, she has a great game.

Its really difficult to rule out Justine. I do see Martina possibly making her first GS semi appearance since her comeback. Petrova and Clijsters will most definitely go deep into the draw. I think Mauresmo will be a wild card. Should she become inspired by the quarters and beat away the French expectations, she could likely be a factor in the second week.

I think a lot depends on how the draw lays out. Whoever gets the most favorable draw could possibly be the last survivor standing. The French Open can be grueling.

I've been very surprised by the lackluster play of Elena on clay this year. She's lost easily to players on clay that should have been tough matches. It will be interesting to see if she can bounce back at the slam, and rebuke her earlier losses on clay.

i think sharapova may surprise us all, well thats just my gut feeling, all maria's fans on her thread, are saying theyd be happy her getting past the 3rd round due to injury and lack of match practice, but i have this feeling that theyre wrong and that maria will win RG 2006. i might be wrong but im feeling it happen, and im good at predictions

While I quickly clicked on Martina without really thinking I do think Justine is favourite to take the title with the best competition coming from Martina, Amelie and Nadia. I wouldn't count out Svetlana, Kim or Venus either but I can't see anyone else going all the way.

Haven't we had over 2 years with different Grand Slam champions? I could certainly see the run continuing with either Martina or Nadia taking this title.

Justine will beat Petrova in a three set final is my guess. If the draw allows it anyway.

Henin, Mauresmo, Petrova, Hingis and Kuznetsova are the favorites :) But I don't see any clear "favorite", even though I think Henin and Petrova are ahead of that group ;)

It's really wide open this year. I think it'll probably between Martina, Justine and Nadia with Nadia being the top-fav. That is if she's recovered from the though schedule
