The thing is, and this has been said thousands of time I think, it has alot to do with Kim's game. How many times hasn't it been said that Kim's opponent "wasn't playing her best"?

#11 Franny #9 Dementieva #10 Kuznetsova
And in terms of the Race (i.e. this year's form) those ladies are #10, #6, and #5, respectively.

And Kim's play definitely leads her opponents to play 'worse.' Her speed forces players to go for more on their shots, and her deep topspin shots make it harder for players to hit effectively.

Soooo pleased Kim's got her first title this year. :bounce: She really deserved that win. Kuzzy got pretty frustrated with the bad bounces a lot and seemed to let it get to her. Kim just got on with and focused on the next point.

Anyone see that ace by Kuzzy in the 2nd set. When it bounced it just shot upwards as if into orbit. All Kim could do was laugh at it.

LOL, "everytime" as in once? A more interesting comparison would be with Petrova who won Charleston, as Justine won RG in the same years she won her two Charleston titles. And she also won Berlin in those years. :p

I've been doubting Kim in all kinds of ways for a few months now (having been an extremely dedicated fan for three and a bit years, so I reckon I'm entitled to it).

But I have to say that I'm much more enthused now that I've watched three of Kim's matches in Warsaw, she seems much more like her "old self" of last year, even on clay (allegedly her least favourite surface).

Let's hope that Kim is beginning to tap into an injury free seam of her best tennis and that she can keep improving for RG and even more for Wimbly

Agreed. :yeah: Today was definitely her best match of the season so far. At last she had more winners than errors. We can forget about the time when she was making over 80 UEs in match. Her FH and BH are working well again. Her play improved and now as she's finally fit, she can be one of the main favourites for RG :bounce:

 This is the first that I've seen a clay court match with that alot of bad bounces. The first ace Kuzzie got was from a bad bounce, it was so high that Kim just stood there and smiled. :haha:
Anyway, I think Kim did play great today, haven't seen her play this well since at the USO. Also there was contributions from Kuzzie but I think Kim's defense and offense were great. Except I think Kim suffered the most bad bounces. But still, congrats to Kimmie!! :bounce:

Glad to see Kim proved some people wrong today, seems so easy for some to put her down when things are going somewhat more difficult ..

Yes indeed, to all the oracles of Delphi and the Gospels written in Wales: THERE, Kim threw some winning serves and backhands down the line in your face!!!
So this win makes me twice happy. First of all because I love to see her win tournaments (even when it is for the 31st time) but secondly, because I love it when the moronic thoughts of some folks are proven to be wrong. :tape:

Oh dear (and thanks very much to H and S for making this so personal)! At least I have the grace to admit it on this board when I get it wrong, which is more than I can say for some who don't have the humility to do that. I'm so glad to know that I am not perfect, just human

No I didn't - I don't believe I've ever directed a comment at any of your eye catching posts.

This is a general message board and everyone can post their views and everyone's view is equally important. Sorry if that comes as a disappointment to you, but this is the big wide world, not a closeted fan forum with a lot of arse kissing going on ;) .

If you can't stand the heat ...........................

what the hell is wrong with some people here? We are on a public board and people are entitled to say what they think. I am a pretty positive person but I had doubts and was worried about Kim recently, that never stopped me from cheering for me or supporting her and doing my best to watch every one of her matches when I can. Why does it seem so wrong to have doubts? I wasn't the only one to think that and each of us has different ways of expressing it, I don't see where this is wrong! Fifi seems to become the one people like to have a go at that's seriously out of order...

Well said!!

I'm getting kinda tired of people jumping on others backs when they voice some doubts about their faves. I've been a kim fan for over 6 years now, and when she goes through a rocky period, I'll have doubts and I will comment on her sometimes poor form. What's so bad about being critical at times. It's not like I'm only her fan when things are going right.

Maybe the reason could be that fandom is somehow related to fanatism and
the fact that the latter doesn't allow criticism.
Criticism is ok IMO as long as you can explain your opinion with some decent
arguments. If not, then you're simply bashing, which again is very much
related to fanatism.
I will always prefer one active, thinking fan above 10 passive, slaverish fans.

That said, I think Kim played a good match, nothing more, nothing less, while
Svetlana was having a bad day; she gave Kim alot of free points with all
her UE's. Some may have been forced by Kim, but alot of them were just
give aways due to sloppy play by Kuznetsova.
Nevertheless Kim was by far the better player, able to raise her game
whenever Kuznetsova became a bit more dangerous and very aggressive
when necessary!

Kim definitaly looks better than she did during the Diamond Games in Antwerp.
Fitter and more relaxed. During the DG's she left a very frustrated impression.
Of course, she was injured and exhausted there, yesterday she seemed fresh
and even enthusiastic again. Warsaw was probably her first tournament of
the year that she was able to play injury free.

I just wonder how her body would react to a tight 3 setter. During the final
at the DG's against A. Mauresmo, it was clear that her body couldn't bear
a 3 setter. After the first set that she won, she had no energy left anymore
to play, let alone win a second or third set. Hence, all her frustrations and
negativity on court. Of course, taking the injury and physical exhaustion
into consideration, I was even surprised that she made it to the final, that
alone shows what an elite player she is.
So what I really want to see is, if she's ready to play a long, tight 3 setter.
Maybe at Rome!

It's just too bad that the one thinking fan often gets jumped by the 10 other fans  Ooohh well, thats life on a fan forum for ya.

Kim definitely played a good tournie and I think it helped a lot that she didn't get frustrated during her matches this time. I also think that her tournament planning is good as a prep for RG this year, with enough free time for her body to rest.

That's right. Some will open their minds to your thoughts, others will refuse
and accuse you of not being a true fan. Like you said, that's life on a fan
forum. Don't you worry. :wavey:

it was so funny when Kim thanked her coach (who she said was her father). He only shaked his head.
