Hi all ! I'm from Spain :) And u know... I like very much the way Shuai and other chinese girls play. They are my favourite players and I'm a big fan from them. If they play, a tournament is really exciting for me :bounce:

I hope I can go to one Slam in the next years... it's one of my dreams. And see all of them. This year I will be able to see Jie & Zi in Madrid in the Championships. Next year will be a new WTA in Barcelona (Tier IV), I wish the come here... (I live in Barcelona) but really don't think so... (it's the week after RG... the same week as Birmingham  ). I prefer they play higuer tournaments... but that week I would prefer they play the Tier IV :p

Anyway there are a lot of chances Madrid will held a mini-grand slam tournament in 2009. I also want to go to the Olympics in China :D (another dream). But I hope I can see Shuai before that !

I think 2007 will be definitely her year. I'm sure. Really can't wait for next season :bounce:

Keep talking guys ! I'm going to bed just now. Today I was in ITF 75K in Barcelona. Tomorrow I will go again to see the semis. Today I saw players like Lourdes Dominguez Lino, Virginie Razzano, Eva Birnerova, Stephanie Foretz, Tathiana Garbin, Arantxa Parra, Laura Pous, Arancha Sanchez (tournament director). I really enjoyed ! It was my first time watching female tennis live :) (Already only saw man on Conde de Godo here in Barcelona). Like I said I will go to the YEC for all week :D

Godd nicght people ! see u tomorrow ;)

By the moment, still hot weather. But nights are more cold than a few weeks ago ! Cold time is coming !

Today it was a lot of sunny. I was again in the ITF watching the semis. And then later I was playing tennis :) I'm very tired ! I'm gonna rest a little. Let's see if today is any good movie on TV. Or maybe I will go to the videoclub. I have to say I saw recently "V for vendetta", and I really liked it !!! If you have any chance, watch it. I'm sure you will enjoy it ! :D

Next days "Pan's Labyrinth" will be on sales. I want to go the cinema to watch it. It seems a good movie, and exciting :D Btw, what are ur favourite movies ?

Take care people ;)

This seems a tennis player blog from WTA

Hi all :wavey:

Adry just told me about this thread so I thought I should join it :D I've been a Shuai fan for a long time now.As a Monica Seles fan I'm very interested in every player with 2 handed both sides style, but I have to tell Shuai is for me the best one of them all with a big difference. When she's on and dominating she clearly reminds me of Monica :hearts:

As for me,I'm from Spain,29,I've been following tennis since 1989.I've been to only one tourney (Fed Cup final 1995,that was a long time ago) but I'm going again to YEC this year :bounce: I don't think I'll see Shuai anytime soon if she doesn't come to Spain  I can't afford travelling to tourneys abroad.Well maybe I should consider french ones...I'd love to go to Roland Garros one year :D Other than tennis my interests are books, movies, rock music, learning languages (but not chinese for the moment, too difficult and I'm already sttruggling with russian),travelling and animals.

I'll think about my favourite movies and will post them later,Adry ;)

It's nice to meet you all :wavey:

Do you know which is the players' hotel?

Hope you have fun! I thought about going because I can take a vacation from work that week. And I've never been to Spain. But there isn't any player I really want to see there, except Yan/Zheng doubles.

Hey folks,
Count me in!! I am right now in LA and probably I'll stay here for quite a while
I applied for the volunteer positions in US series here but I was not able to make it
I'll apply again for the next year and hopefully I'll see Shuai plays here
I went to RG in 2005 and it was already SF there so I could not find a ticket but I did manage to trespass with my friend and we watched a Junior's double for free. Haaah! Also took some pics on the court which is not allowed. Unfortunately, I only saw the main stadium covered with huge canvas. Do you guys remember Shuai almost kicked out Davenport at that GS? So close.
Anyways, great to know you guys!!! And Drake, we may go for some tournament together if possible!!!

I'm still thinking about it, though it is getting late, and this tournament doesn't really excite me. But it's a good excuse to go to Spain. I live in Ohio in the US. Is there lots to do in Madrid? I would like to stay for about a week but not to to tennis every day. I like to sightsee.

Hey Drake :wavey:

So you didn't go to Madrid in the end? It was an amazing experience.First the tennis live is a lot more exciting than on tv,the balls go faster than you can perceive on tv and the atmosphere in the stadium is fantastic.I was cheering like crazy for Amélie. She played very good matchs and I'm so happy and proud to be her fan.I was sitting with a group of french fans and we were constantly singing her songs and cheering her very loudly  I met Adrygf,in fact we spend a lot of time together as we were staying in the same hostel (surrounded by chinese bazars everywhere you looked ;) he'll tell you more about it) with other Spanish Armada members of this site. He's super nice & really passionate for chinese players,a really funny guy ;)

So in brief, fantastic 4 days I spent there (not many time for sightseeing though) and I can't wait for next year that I'll definitely be back (I hope for the whole week).

Hi Drake !! It was an amazing week. I was with a lot of people from this board (from Spanish Armada) and I really enjoyed with them. They were so nice, and I had a lot of fun ! I was waiting every day to see Jie and Zi. I was watching every day training courts. And finally I saw them one day, on thursday. When they finished, I said to Zheng Jie to take a pic with her. She posed for me  and said me like: "come here". I asked to the security guardian, but he didn't let me to pass to take a pic with her :o :fiery:  . On saturday in their match, I bought a chinese flag. A chinese woman writed on it "Jia You" on chinese :D . I bought also a whistle and a horn  I was screaming a lot ! and singing: "Zheng Jiiie ! Yan Ziii ! Zheng Jiiie ! Yan Ziii" and "Zheng Jie !!! (claps) Yan Zi !!! (claps)" and "Jia You ! Jia You ! Jia You !" and "VAMOS" every point, etc... They were so surprised ! Coach Chen Li was watching me and laughing, and she game me a wavey ;) Unfortunalety they lost you know :bigcry: I was so sad, but I really enjoyed the match. I'm so happy because I think I supported them very well. At final of their match, I got an autograph from Zheng Jie in the chinese flag :D I said them: "You are the best, congrats for this amazing season you had. See you next year!!!" :bounce:

In singles I was supporting Martina and Kim. They didn't win... but they fighted a lot in their matches and were so incredible !

I was every day with people from this board. It has been an amazing experience :)

Hope you come here next year drake !!! :wavey:

Hope everyone had a merry christmas!

Tell us about your holiday!

And for those who don't celebrate christmas, a question: do you see more and more christmas things happening where you live / in your culture?

I keep hearing about so many non-christian places and people in non-christian religions celebrating christmas, just because it is so much fun! My friend who is married to a Japanese woman told me that the Japanese go crazy for christmas, and I heard a long radio story and read a news story about Christmas in Dubai, and about a Jewish couple who really loves the good feelings that come with christmas so they decided to celebrate it too.

Anyway, if not christmas, maybe you have some winter holiday stories to share with us.

For me, it was a whole day with the family.... long day and I Was glad to get home afterward.. but it was realy nice. Brother from out of town was there, and we had a big meal, and lots of gifts.

What exactly are they decorating, and what does it entail?

We decorate different department stores, shopping centres and malls for the promotion of DVD movie releases for companies like Disney, Filmax, and Nintendo (video games is a new area for us), amongst others. Companies send us all the material we need. We have a studio where we prepare the campaigns (We cut out figures and paint the letters for the titles... ). Its right near to my house and I have my computer there). We put everything together and add our own creative touches and then take the finished product to the various shopping centres to be decorated before the DVD release date.

 Well I have to say that was before... a years ago. Now I have to buy the movies :o

And yep, "Toy Story" (1 and 2), "The Incredibles", "Monsters, INC", "Finding Nemo", "Cars", "A bugs life" (the last two ones are my least favourites) and all their short films are really amazing :worship: Im waiting for their next movie: "Ratatouille" :D :bounce:

Disney were really lucky buying them. Because Disney latest movies are... :tape: :help:

Amazing works!! :hearts:
I can't imagine the whole fantastic decoration works were done by just a family. :yeah:

I heard a little about "Ratatouille".It's a story about rats who fights for his dream to be a chef, right?
Their pictures about animals never make me feel disappointed,so I look forward to seeing the movie as soon as possible. :)

Thank you :D Very greatful to you :)

We do some some provinces from Spain. Other people do the other ones you know.

Thats the story from Ratatouille yep. Its writted and directed by Brad Bird ( "The incredibles" ) Here a picture:

http://www.recreodigital.com/art/ratatouille.jpg

And teaser: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l8bjWR6mAaA

I would have prefered a movie with humans, like "The incredibles". But for example I remember with Monsters INC, my expectations werent so high, but I was totally wrong. That movie surprised me. I only can say with Pixar you can have the highest expectations :bounce:

Im also looking forward some movies like Shrek 3 (like you see, I really like animation movies) and Spiderman 3 also :D

By the way I will go finally to the cinema this thursday to see "Night at the Museum" :)

Hello Shuai fans...........how is everyone doing? Any good or interesting news?

Right now I'm so stressed because it's the time of year when I find out if my contract is renewed or not..... I'll either be happy and rich again for one more year (and working hard! :p ) or depressed and poor (and have to look for another job :tape:  ).

So wish me well!!

Hey drake, so many time without talking to you. Hope all is going great there :)

Im so busy now. I started my first year at university two weeks ago. Im there right now. And Im working the afternoons. I wake up everyday at 07.00 and come home so late, at 00.00h . Only two weeks, but Im starting to get so tired :tears: I was supposed to finish my job last week. I have been working during all the summer (Im working in Decathlon, a famous sport store in Europe. Im a salesman on tennis department :) ). They told me if I wanted to keep working two more months. And I accepted. Its a nice work, and I met so many great people there! Im happy with it. Its a very good job to combine with university. If they tell me I want to sign an indefinite contract two months later, I will do it. But I will ask to work less hours (currently Im working 20 hours to week - 5 days; 16 or 12 hours on 3 days would be so good).

I try to play tennis every weekend now :D Im playing so well lately! I had no serve. And now I really improved it!!! Now I enjoy to serve, and Im with a lot of confidence thanks to it. I'm so happy with my game right now. My forehand keeps being my best shot. And I improved my net game and my backhand. So thats great :)

Here at uniersity there are some tennis courts! I hope to meet people who play tennis :)

I assume you are in China? Do you have good courts/facilities? Do you have a lot of pollution that bothers your playing? I read that Beijing pollution is the worst ever right now.

what's the standard of "good courts"?

ewww...compared with Singapore, Shanghai's facilities are much better since almost all of them are newly built in last five years. Tennis is getting more and more popular in China since 2004.

I went to the TMC in last three years, and its very hard to get a ticket this year.

Talking of pullution, I don't know Beijing's condition, but in Shanghai, Im not bothered by the "smoke thing". and my Europe freinds seems to adapt it, at least havent complaint about it in front of me. Compared with Sing and Hongkong, the air there is slightly better than Shanghai, but it's OK for me.

Does have any good alliances right now?

The question is that they think they are all the new competitors. But its like a "final casting" and audience will vote to eliminate one of them (tuesday). There is also a couple (those 2 are the only 2 official contestants right now, but they still dont know) and they have to fake they dont know each other u know (they dont know, they are in another hourse right now).

They are still knowing each other (started just like 1-2 hours ago) so I cant say. But I think she will have good alliances yeah :D (I hope!).

$uricate

What is a tax form for?

Why should I avoid that expression in French? Did I say it wrong? Im not completely fluent so I have to look stuff up sometimes :(

Ellery
Feb 12th, 2009, 09:09 PM
Sucer = suck, but in the original meaning of you know, using your mouth to suction something. Sucer in French cannot be used to say, "I am not good at something".

So when you say "je suce", it has a distinctively sexual connotation rofl. :p

$uricate
Feb 12th, 2009, 09:18 PM
Oh no :rolls:

What would be the correct expression in French then?

I find it hard to put sayings into other languages.

Ellery

Ellery

$uricate

I love gymnastics too and my favourite teams are Romania and China, I guess there may be a link. I think China and Romania are the tennis superpowers of the future :)

The players are interesting cause theyre the first generation of top players from these countries.

$uricate

Ellery
Feb 12th, 2009, 09:54 PM

$uricate

I think Im Yvonne's biggest fan

Why did you get rid of your sig? I was trying to remember who was in it. You like the Chinese girls most too?

Ellery
Feb 12th, 2009, 10:06 PM
Well, I am Chinese :ras: so yeah.

I used to be one of sexy prattylicious Nicole Pratt's biggest fans :hearts: so I know what it feels like to support a player whom many (dumb) people consider a joke

$uricate
Feb 12th, 2009, 10:17 PM
Prattasaurus :hearts:

 Who cares what everyone else thinks!

Its weird, you say you support them cause you are Chinese, yet I dont support any British players even though Im from Britain. I hate most of them :o

Something else I noticed. People who are fans of Shuai always prefer Na or Jie over her, hardly anyone likes Shuai best with the exception of LefandePatty and drake89585864

Ellery
Feb 12th, 2009, 10:22 PM
Jie has very few haters :p That's true. Some people hate Na and others hate Shuai (because of their playing style). Let me think of other Shuai fans who like her over Na and Jie...

Aren't you from Scotland? If that was the case, then I could understand your dislike for British players :ras:

Unseeded and looming Nicole Prattylicious :hearts:

$uricate

Unseeded and looming :rolls:

Yes Im from Scotland so you're right about that. We mostly see England as a rival rather than our own. Although Baltacha and Murray are Scottish and I dont really like them either, I was really annoyed when he beat Nadal at the US Open :fiery:

Ellery
Feb 12th, 2009, 10:28 PM
Rafa :worship: I always used to be more of a Roger fan than a Rafa fan, but after Roger's snide comment about female world number one's, I am totally on the Rafa bandwagon :fiery:

$uricate
Feb 12th, 2009, 10:34 PM
I liked Fed for a bit until he became number one. Since then I just think he has become more and more arrogant. He hates to lose, even though he almost always won (not anymore).

Ellery
Feb 12th, 2009, 10:39 PM
I know. :( It took me so long to find out though.

The one thing I hate about Rafa is his butt-scratching  :p

You've never heard of the "Unseeded and looming" gag on tennisforum? When did you join? :p

$uricate
Feb 12th, 2009, 10:43 PM
I didnt notice the butt scratching so much at the AO, but its bad :o
I think Rafa beating Roger at a hardcourt slam may be one of the nails in Fed's coffin.

I think Ive seen the gag, it had a bunch of unseeded players that were threats then Pratt added on always
I dont know if I was a member yet though, I had looked at this site before I joined officially :secret:

$uricate
Feb 12th, 2009, 10:44 PM
I was thinking about Shuai fans there, and I just realised - Where is Shalafan?
He's not been around in ages.

Ellery
Feb 12th, 2009, 10:56 PM
Seriously. I still can't believe Roger lost on a hardcourt final :o If he loses Wimbledon again... :wavey: then slam or no slam, he won't be number 1

Yeah, the "unseeded and looming" gag was a masterpiece of Pierce0415, a true wtaworld legend :hearts: Every week, before each tournament, he would post a "seeds" list with the pictures of the seeds :D And he would always include an unseeded and looming list, which included Pratty and Chinese players, among others.

$uricate
Feb 12th, 2009, 11:04 PM
I know. Remember when it was a foregone conclusion that he would win more slams than Sampras, he was gonna win at least 20 at the rate he was going etc. But all it takes is one player to come up and knock your confidence and all of a sudden it looks like he might not win anymore :help:

I dont think he can ever win the French now, barring some injury to Nadal.

Who is Pierce0415? Where is he now?

I think we should carry on the unseeded and looming tradition ;)

one baby possum got into my place via the kitchen window around 2 years ago. and it ruined my fruit juice as it was all over the floor. it scared me a big time in the morning as it was sleeping on the middle shelf of my bookcase.
