I just want to know why Venus' win in the Grand Slam Cup is counted in the head-to-head since it was an exhibition tournament and the matches were not official. I also find it strange that Serena's win over Venus at the Grand Slam Cup is constantly mentioned as Serena's first "professional win" over Venus. Technically, that should have come this year in Key Biscayne.

Do any of you know why..........

The Grand Slam Cup was a glorified exhibtion and the only reason players played it was for $$$$. There were many male players who went there and just threw their first round match to get the $$$.

IMO I would NEVER include it in head-to-heads as I feel it was a tainted tournament with some tainted results.

That's what I'm confused about, babsi!

Why is it included in the head-to-head? I just don't get it!!!

They include hopman cup in the head to head now too and that's an exhibition too
I guess they want to make head to heads look more interesting:rolleyes:

Yeah, that's another thing. Monica's win over Kim at the Hopman Cup is included in their head-to-head. That just does not make sense! Exhibitions are NOT supposed to be included in the head-to-head so why are they!?!? They should not even be counted!!!

It looks like they count competitive events even if they are not necessarily sanctioned by the WTA. From the looks of Venus' and Martina's third set score at the Slam Cup, it was also a pretty competitive match.

yep it sure was, I saw it on tv!

It was very competitive and Venus got her revenge for the week before (although I'd imagine she'd have preferred it to be the other way around).

Personally, I don't think that it matters that GS cup or Hopman cups were exhibitions as the ladies still fight as hard as they can.
