View Full Version : I need your help!

My town is involved in a contest called hockeyville which, basically, is a contest to find the most spirited hockey town in Canada. The winner gets to host an NHL exhibition game and receives $25,000 for much needed renovations to the local arena. Right now, we need votes to move on. We're a really small town so we can use all the help we can get. The link is http://www.cbchockeyville.ca/vote/ and the town is CHETICAMP. It is the first town in the Atlantic region (in green). You need to vote for one town in each region ( so one from each color) so just pick at random I guess :p It's really simply, just takes a second. It would mean so much to me and my entire town if you guys could help out. Thank you!

A little bit more about our town, in case anybody wants to know, and because the video on that site really does us no justice. We're a small fishing village of around 3000, give or take a couple of hundred people. Our town is, by no means, a rich town, especially since most people rely on seasonal employement, usually fishing or tourism. Hockey has always been huge in our town, even in the last few years where there are hardly enough kids to make teams because our town is so small. Even though we're a small town, the whole town comes together to support the hockey teams. Last year we hosted the high school hockey provincial championships and our arena, which holds about half our population ( 1500 ) was standing room only. Two of the last three years, those very same championships have been hundreds of kms, and many hours ( 6 or 7 ) away but both years, hundreds of fans drove all that way, so many fans in fact that we outnumbered the home fans. This contest really means a lot to us, especially for the arena renovations. The arena has barely been opening the last 4 or 5 years because of a lack of funds to keep the place running and make much needed improvements. So please, just take 30 seconds out of your day to vote for something that would make a lifetime of difference to a small town in Nova Scotia :)
