I hope so..
I wonder how good is Shahar on clay?
I know its great for Anna and Yevgenia :D but I don't know about Shahar

anyway, groups draw is today. but it doesn't really matter who we get, cuz in order to qualify we will have to face teams from other groups as well, so bring it on :woohoo:

The Fed Cup draw that was scheduled to be today at 11 AM was postpond to 7 PM. It seems that the teams were pissed at a change in the seedings system, that now looks at the teams results in the past 4 years instead of the top 2 players ranking in each taem

The draw is out. Israel will play in the only group that has 5 teams in it. They'll play against Sweaden (tomorrow), Belarus, Estonia and Romania.

Tomorrow Anna will play in the first match, at 10 AM, then Shahar, and finally the doubles.

Shahar won 6-4 6-4 :D
another win in straights, more and more confidence :woohoo:
plus the win in the doubles too..

I'm starting to be optimistic about the doubles match, though we really can lose there  .. hope the girls will be tired or they will choke. it seems like our kinda only chance :o

Anna really shouldn't have screwed it up.

No day of rest tomorrow, I guess in Thursday then?
We play tomorrow against Estonia who beat Sweden 3-0. Every match score was better then ours :scared: The only positive thing is their scores against Belarus. Not impressive.

Anna will have to regroup and play like the real anna we know, if not we are screwed

If Belarus should win on Friday, how would they decide the tiebreak between these two(both would be 3-1)?

King Aaron

Anna has been horrid so far. And the worrying thing is it's being played on clay. :o

I hope she gets her game together.

If it is a two way tie for first place, then I believe it is based on head to head record. Which means that if Belarus won, they would advance.

In a three way tie, which would happen if Romania defeated Sweden, the tiebreaker is based on overall match records. Israel could still advance if it lost to Belarus 2-1 and Romania defeated Sweden 2-1.

However, this is all moot, as Shahar just won her match and Israel has won its group undefeated. :D

Anna is rested.

Hmm, usually you don't "rest" a star player in a must win game.

I think "benched" is the term we are looking for.

I'm not sure "benched" is the term we are looking for either. Anna came with a injury and a lack of match play. She is just wasn't ready to compete in 100% so she was rested for the playoffs, as the captain believed Tzipi can also win this match.

Good job. :) :yeah:

I hope if Anna plays against Serbia, she will be in the best shape she can be. :yeah:
I think the tie against Serbia will come down to doubles, 2nd singles should be no problem for either Anna or Tzipi.

No. The next match will be in July, against one of 7 teams(4 that dropped from World group II or other 3 that qualified for the playoffs)

I hope Anna won't play much until July. She should build her wta turnaments schedule around Fed cup, so she will be healthy and play on top form in July.

I think after all the WTA Tour turnaments she won and the success on tour, the fed cup should be the most important event for her this year, after the Roland Garros. I wonder if she feels the same or its just me being selfish :p

I'm pretty sure each of the World Group II losers are paired off against one of the Zonal group winners.

Great win. :yeah: Shahar. :worship:
Anna though,  these cramps are getting worse and worse. I hope she can stay healthy and find a way to battle the cramps. It's happening way too often. Hopefully she plays a smart schedule now.
