The team picked to play in Bulgaria next month is Anne Keothavong, Elena Baltacha, Katie O'Brien & Claire Curran.

Former Irish Fed Cup player Claire Curran will make her debut for Great Britain in the Europe/Africa Zone Group I tie in Bulgaria next month.

The Belfast-born 28-year-old has been selected alongside Elena Baltacha, Anne Keothavong and Katie O'Brien in Britain's squad to compete against 16 other nations in Plovdiv in the week commencing April 17 to determine who will be promoted to the World Group II play-offs in July.

Curran, who was the youngest player ever to represent Ireland in the Fed Cup when aged 15, has amassed 11 ITF doubles titles in her career and in January reached her first WTA Tour doubles final in Canberra with Liga Dekmeijere of Latvia.

Colin Beecher, who will captain the side for the first time, said: "Claire's outstanding recent doubles results will give the team an important extra dimension.

"The week in Bulgaria will be a tough test against some difficult opponents, however the squad is full of confidence and very much looking forward to the challenge
