From GM, Alona withdrew both Stanford and Los Angeles, so it'll be at least a month of rest for her knee. i think Olympics is her next tournament.

All greetings from Germany!

We have a rainy day today, and I have time to continue my blog!

Very sorry that long to write, but only at times left little record at the forum: just happened I have very busy and difficult period: tournaments, insures, surgery.

Feeling and I have great mood. Every day, heading procedure, appointed Professor Lazarevski.

My day begins at 7-30 morning with the doctor visit. He very carefully watching my knee. Checks, whether the knee is not swelling after we have once again increased the load. And then, after breakfast, I go to training. Already steeper pedal to the bike, doing special exercises for the knee, then I have aerobics for the feet. In 13-00 we have lunch. Well, then still doing exercises for different muscle groups, as well as to coordinate movements. Run is not yet very successful, feel discomfort. But with each passing day load more and more and knee all better.

And the glory of God, the professor said that everything is going as expected, no complications. I am so very happy. This evening will also discuss with him: Is it time to load o even stronger leg, or to leave all at the same level.

Leisure time is, but a very small town here. Nowhere did not walk. Shops and a total only two: a cosmetic and food. Both small. Television, as I wrote, all in German. Even with the English - problems.

Me and Kolya bought two films in Russian. One of them was an American, just with Russian dubbed. Frankly speaking, movies were so-so. One of them would like adventure and the second… well, I can not imagine even identify genre, in which it was created.

Unfortunately, we have taken with them only one book - "American tragedy" Theodore Drayzer's, here and read it in turn: I, then Kolya. Today should have to go to a barbecue at a friend. His children are very fond of tennis, and I am here has become a local attraction, after about me and my operation is the author of the local press. That's after a hike in the restaurant, and we are having a barbecue. But not very lucky with the weather: it rains the whole day, no kebab and a hike in visitors. So sit with Kolya and playing cards: in "Durak".

I want to home. Katja now rest in the Crimea, the truth was already back. We correspond all the time - accustomed to always be together, missed friend of a friend. Here's Katyusha and waiting for my return: it is - must now fly to America for tournaments, but I have not yet returned from Germany. We can not see prior to its departure.

Well, as Katya, vacationers at sea, I think it will tell you herself: she liked to write a blog and communicate on the forum.

But nothing soon - back to Ukraine. As the doctor: his work with me over and soon, if not immediately, I will be able to go to court and to start training. We want to be at the Olympiad in fighting form.

At this point put. All big hello! Thank you for your support!

Your Alenushka.

Alona posted this here (http://www.sapronov-tennis.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=7427#7427) on the 1st of August. My Russian is really poor, but I will try to translate it. Sorry if I've made mistakes :o, but I hope that I've got the important parts correct :pВсем привет!

She wanted to explain why Katya replaced her at a press conference the day before. The Olympics are soon and she is trying to dedicate all of her time to getting ready. As a result, she skipped the press conference. She asks for people to understand and forgive her :awww:

Things aren't going as well as the best-case scenario predicted by the doctor, but she is training.

She is hitting from one spot, but she will still be able to move around the court while training. The doctor said that if it still hurts, it's to wait and increase the load gradually, rather than force it, and the moment will come when there is no pain and she can play normally.

Ten days remain until the start of the tennis at the Olympics and she hopes that her knee will be okay and that she can play singles and doubles.
The team will leave for Beijing on Monday (the 3rd).

Support us and we will do our best to represent Ukraine at the Olympics Games in Beijing. Many thanks for your support. It helps me in during the difficult times.
Your Alona

Good job Alona. :) She plays Sabine Lisicki next.

Her stats for the 1st 2 stats are pretty poor: 3 winners and 16 unforced errors for the 1st set, 4 winners and 13 unforced errors for the 2nd set.

The stats for the 3rd set are a lot better with 9 winners and 9 unforced errors. There was at least a 5 minute delay after she broke for 3-2 3rd set. I have no idea what exactly the delay was for.

Good job Alona. :) Probably should have been easier though seeing that hardcourt mug err claycourt specialist Maria Kirilenko beat Lisicki in a lot easier fashion (6-2 1-6 6-1). :p

I just counted and it's 11 3 set wins in a row. Alona's last loss in a 3 setter was to Sharapova at Amelia Island. She's kind of how Elena Dementieva was, getting into a lot of unneccesary 3 setters though.

Next up is Venus. Alona lost to Venus 6-1 6-2 in the 3rd round at the US Open last year. Hopefully she can at least make the scoreline somewhat more respectable this time.

I was watching some highlights of Alona playing against Jankovic in Stuttgart.

I kept feeling like I was watching Anna Kournikova play, because the blue K-Swiss outfit Alona was wearing looked so similar to an adidas one Anna wore at the AO one year. Alona had her hair in a long plait as well. I was just so shocked by how similar Alona looked to Anna. :)

I think that after this exhausting year she must have got, she should take some rest, in order to come stronger into 2009.

But I'm not her coach, her mother is (from wiki).

P.S
It's quite upsetting, I have a digital T.V which says that the tournament should be up live at 16-00 (israeli time) but instead there's the ATP tournament.
I tell you ,this technology is pain in the arse.

having watched both alona first and second rounds live at the AO i would have to say she need a total attidtude adjustment i really love her and think she is awesome but the temper tamtrums are insane!!!!!!!!!! she had just won the first set agaisnt severine and after losing the first game of the second mind u it wasnt a break of serve she lost the plot screaming abuse at her bf/coach smacking her reaquet on the ground and refused to even try until she was 5 love down!!! she was the same in the first round getting into a full on argument with her bf/coach to the point where the umpire had to tell him to stop speaking to her!!! and again she let herself be down a break and a set bfore getting it together!!! she completely reminds me of me when i play!!! but i feel if she could just keep it togteher she really could be alot closer to the top ten!!!!! she is almost uncomfortable to watch and her dad honestly looks ashamed of her childish tantrums!! she even yeeled at katya for saying com on come on!! attidude adjustment needed big time she is like 24!!!

I watched her second and third rounds aswell....she really takes u on a rollercoaster especially in that second round, but she defends so well, she needs to know how to attack more tho and adjust her mental state on court to keep more composed, cause we've seen glimpses of brilliance that show potential. I also saw her shopping the next day when i was lost in the melbourne city she was with her boyfriend and katya was just following behind

Horrible meltdown in progress from Alona. She went from 4-0 3rd set to 4-4 3rd set. She had 3 game points for 5-1 3rd set and a break point for 5-2 3rd set. :(

She is still favourite to win though I think. Especially since she has Shahar 15-40 right now. But if Shahar holds then it could be very tough. As long as Kateryna wins I think the Ukrainian girls will win the doubles though.

edit: she didn't break Shahar... and now she is fighting to stay in the match on her own serve... this could be 6 games in a row, but if she can somehow get to 5-5 she will be back in it.

Alona had 8 winners 5 unforced errors in the 3rd set at 4-0. She had 10 winners 23 unforced errors at 4-6 3rd set.

I'm trying to decide if this loss is worse than her loss to Patty at Wimbledon (she was up a double break in the 3rd).

I think Katya will win her singles match but considering how badly the sisters have been playing doubles lately, that doesn't sound good.

Alona plays Patty Schnyder in the 1st round of Paris. It's definitely a winnable match for Alona as she won their last match 6-1 in the 3rd set indoors and lost 8-6 in the 3rd set at Wimbledon after being up a double break in the 3rd set. She just needs to keep it together mentally.

It's over. Well, if someone in the media forum posts the match I'll have a looksie. I think it can't have been too bad a match, scoreline seems close, Alona would have had good chances if it went to a third, but she obviously played a poor tiebreak (7-3). Onto the next tournament. Oh, I suppose she has doubles too though.

From following the scoreboard it seemed like another headcasy type loss. Alona somehow lost the 1st set despite Patty winning only 45% of points on her 1st serve (yet getting broken only once). Alona had 4 bps to up 5-3 in the 2nd set (2 of them I think were 2nd serves), a set point at 5-4 2nd set with a 2nd serve, and was up a minibreak at 2-0 in the 2nd set tiebreak (Patty serving) before falling behind to 2-6.

For the match Patty won 75% of points on her 2nd serve which is way too high. :(

So where does Alona play next?

She needs to keep her head up, and trying to win every point even those hard ones, I think she gives up too soon.
As I see it, she's a lioness (a female lion (-: ) she should scour the court, ofcourse it's painful, but no pain no gain.

And when she's upfront, i.e has a lead don't get your head up, keep head leveled to finish the game.
There's a nice excerpt from a song from here:
http://www.elyrics.net/read/a/andromeda-lyrics/two-is-one-lyrics.html
"....But if you count you lose the point"
She must be counting her lead and think the game is over, but as she sees this isn't the case.
The same also happened when she played against Shahar Pe'er, she already had something like 3-1 or was 3-0 lead and she lost it, I think she lost concentration.

Pretty good draw for Alona (seeded #24) in Indian Wells: 1st-round bye, Krajicek or Vaidisova in the 2nd round, and then most likely Medina Garrigues or Dokic in the 3rd.

Nicole only got 47% of her 1st serves in yet Alona didn't even get 1 break point on her serve. :( Nicole even won 70% of points on her 2nd serve. These return stats are ridiculous especially considering that Indian Wells is a pretty slow hard court.

Alona only won 27% of points on her 1st serve in the 2nd set.
