Abu Dhabi (Arabic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arabic_language): أبو ظبي ʼAbū Ẓaby) is the largest of the seven emirates (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emirate) that comprise the United Arab Emirates (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Arab_Emirates) and was also the largest of the former Trucial States (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trucial_States). Abu Dhabi is also a city of the same name within the Emirate that is the capital (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capital_city) of the country, in north central UAE. The city lies on a T-shaped island jutting into the Persian Gulf (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Persian_Gulf) from the central western coast. An estimated 1,000,000 people lived there in 2000, with about an 80% expatriate (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Expatriate) population. Abu Dhabi city is located at 24.4667° N 54.3667° E (http://kvaleberg.com/extensions/mapsources/index.php?params=24.4667_N_54.3667_E_{{{5}}}). The Emirate has approximately 70% of the country's entire wealth. Al Ain (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al_Ain) is Abu Dhabi's second largest urban area with a population of 348,000 (2003 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2003) census estimate) and is located 150 kilometres inland

Final

Katerina Avdiyenko d. Andreja Klepac 64 62

Doubles Final

Cetkovska/Klepac d. Avdiyenko/Grigorian 61 63 (Friday Match)

Article About Final

Katerina Avdiyenko stuck to the basics to counter bottom seeded Andreja Klepac's error-filled game to claim her first ITF Futures tournament here at the Abu Dhabi International Sports Complex yesterday.

The fourth seeded Ukrainian won 6-4 6-2 and now heads for the next leg of the ITF tournament.

“I never expected to win. This really was a surprise. The best I have reached was the third round in the singles and winning the doubles in the ITF tournament in Egypt last week,” said the 19-year-old budding tennis pro.

“They had two rounds in Egypt. In the first, I reached the second round in the singles and reached the doubles final. Then I did a little better in the second round of that event,” she added.

Avdiyenko playing Klepac for the first in the tour took a sound 4-1 lead before blowing away three set points, which she eventually won after a splendid forehand shot down the baseline followed by a wide return from her Slovenian opponent to take the set in 35 minutes.

The second set became more predictable as Klepac continued with her countless unforced errors and in-between received treatment on her right shoulder, thus signaling the end of her game.

“I didn’t know and won’t know how much her game got affected by her shoulder injury, but she was a tough opponent. The scoreline may say a different story but it wasn’t so easy out there,” said Avdiyenko, who had overcome top seeded Czech Petra Cetkovska in three sets.

Avdiyenko has been in the circuit for three years and her next target after Dubai remains the $75,000 competition in France.

“I hope to continue playing now I’m beginning to get good results. Obviously my ranking should improve from the last two tournaments and we’ll see where I end up,” added the Ukrainian.
