Kinda pathetic

I'd say "extremely".

And there we were, in our comfy fanboy/fangirl thread, talking about Lena's "new serve", and her newfound consistency.

It never changes.

In Australia, it was the heat.

The balls bounced too high.
The balls bounced too low.
The court was too sticky.
The court was too slippery.
The boars were only fed junk.

Thanks for the clips but... OMG, Elena. Why were you playing so passively in the rallies? Usually bad serving doesn't lower her confidence off the ground but she didn't seem confident at all. Not going for many of her shots.

It's okay. It's early in the week and she'll improve.

From this clip it looks like it is a low bounce, heavy balls and the surface slower than clay. Very tought to hit winners in those conditions. I am glad Lena got through. By Monday when she plays her next match the conditions will improve. I am not sure at all that Lena will play Sania.. Sania is likely not to enjoy these conditions tomorrow..

Elena taking 3 sets to beat a relative no name? 16 double faults? Why are people remotely surprised or upset by this? This means she still has her one good match this week in hand.

Anyway, I said Yakimova would be the toughest opponent in Elena's little section. I've seen Anastasia play live before, and she's a much better player than everyone makes her out to be.

Yes, she wasn't putting any pressure on Yakimova and was letting her take control of the rallies.

This usually happens when Lena is tired and/or unfocused, and the conditions of the ground probably didn't help either.

But for the DFs there is no excuse.

Well Done Lena!! well the usual dodgy first round ,but hey ,we have had much worse than this..job got done and thats all that matters ,who wants Lena to bring her A game this early if the C one will still do the job ,better to save that..well DFs were once again a horror ,but thats nothing new still hasnt broken her record of 18 yet..
Well Yakimova ,seems to had a good shot and went for it, pretty impressed I must say ,but ,well it had a kind of doomed Inevitibilty about it really ,like a Semi Trailer bearing down on a dazed rabbit ,looks like it may escape ,but no , the outcome was assured..YOU HAVE BEEN DEMENTINATED! (kinda)
