what do you think?

SilK
Mar 10th, 2006, 05:51 PM
NO.

Why? Because she will surely only play the bigger tiers, a tier II being the lowest.

If the draw opens and every top10 player is out, she might have a shot. But I don't see it happening.

Yes she will. It's only matter of time. Should happen before Wimbledon.

I voted no just because I'm assuming she is going to be playing the best tournaments throughout the year. If that is the case I think she will get deep in every draw but lose to one of the top seeds pretty much everytime. Maybe she will win one on clay.

Of course. Probably on clay.

Of course. Probably on clay.

My sentiments also. Tho i'm not sure if she is playing any clay tournmaments. She could win more than one of these.

Kirilenko won a tier II last year when she was ranked around 30.

There's no reason for Martina not to win a title somewhere.

1. No, she's not playing Amelia Island.

2. The tournament is played on green clay.

If she is playing like a top 10 or 20 player as she is now, I see no rationale why Hingis or Vaidisova/Schnyder, for that matter, can't win a title, be it GS, Tier-1 or Tier-2.

What was Venus, Sharapova ranking when they both last won a slam? 10th and 14th???

I believe in her!I would be 100% sure if she played lesser tournaments, tier III or IV.But she wants to compete with the best.Let's niot require much from her.I'm just happy that she plays and I can watch her in action again.Winning or losing, she's the greatest to me.She's 'poetry in motion' :)

she made the final of a tier 1. that's reason enough to presume she will win a title.

You should not forget that in each big tiers you have withdrawals and with a bit of luck, she surely can win a tournament... Tokyo is a proof of it and her 3 1/2 finals ! I think she can win a tournament but not a GS, that's for sure...

Did you read my entire message?

I said, if the draw opens for Martina, she can win a Tier II.

The same happened for Kirilenko. :)

I am just taking the stand on this from her playing one of the top players in the semi's or the final or a tournament. And if that happens, I don't think she will win a tournament.

It would be great if she did.

And you said that the said draw won't open up. Have you seen some of the tier II's in the past few years.

Hopefully Lindsay or another player beats her otherwise her win will make the women's tour look really bad.

huh!

why?

did the AO 05 win of Serena....
IW & Miami back to back win of Kim....
Red Clay sweep including RG of Justine....
Wimbledon triumph of venus made the tour look bad??????

as far as i know, Martina is one of the greatest females ever to hold a tennis racquet and it won't be a surprise if she will actually, even over these greats i've mentioned above, win a title this year!!!

and NO...its not Bad.....

All this talk about Martina winning and how it is a disgrace to the WTA - PLEASE!!!

Like it or not, she is one of the most talented players to ever pick up a racquet and you don't lose that talent just because you are out of the game for a couple of years. The one thing you do lose is match practice and slowly but surely she is going to get that back and her first tournament win is not that far off!
