Tennis fans can get a sneak preview of Martina Hingis, Maria Sharapova, and the Bryan brothers before the Pacific Life Open, as they will participate in the Centex Destination Properties Desert Smash at the La Quinta Resort and Club Tuesday and Wednesday.
The tennis exhibition is at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday featuring James Blake taking on Mardy Fish.

Also participating in the event is Palm Springs resident Jose Higueras, who coached Michael Chang to the 1989 French Open title. Rancho Mirage resident and doubles legend Mark Woodforde also will provide a clinic for kids.

The event benefits the Tim and Tom Gullikson Foundation, which funds programs that provide support to brain tumor patients and their families.

Tim and Tom Gullikson and their families founded the organization after Tim was diagnosed with brain tumors in 1995. At the time of diagnosis, Tim Gullikson was coach to then-No. 1 ranked Pete Sampras. Tim Gullikson died in 1996. For information, call (866) 362-2654.
