NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 16, 2006--Recent Grammy winner Shakira and Fugees frontman Wyclef Jean have a history of blending music and culture with their individual bodies of work. So it's no wonder that the outcome of their recent endeavor in the studio is a Latin inflected cross-cultural hip shaker entitled "Hips Don't Lie." The smash, which makes its way to radio across the world today, was recorded on the road in Miami, New York and Los Angeles over the last couple weeks. Next week, Shakira and Wyclef will complete a video for "Hips Don't Lie" which will debut in early March.

Explaining the song's title, Shakira says her hips have always been an indication of a great song. "My hips tell me where and when I should move. And my hips don't lie -- my hips tell me the truth."

"Hips Don't Lie" will become available on Oral Fixation Vol. 2 by March 28th. The song can also be sampled at Shakira's website www.Shakira.com. Fans who already own Oral Fixation Vol. 2 can also go to her website to find out how to acquire the song.

Meanwhile, last year's successes continue to mount for Shakira. Her Spanish album Fijacion Oral vol. 1 just won the Best Latin Rock/Alternative Album Grammy Award and the album has surpassed over 3 million sales worldwide. The English companion album Oral Fixation, vol. 2 debuted at #5 on the Billboard Top 200 Album chart making her second top 5 album of 2005 and Shakira the only artist ever to debut top 5 albums in English and Spanish in the same calendar year.

Stay tuned for world tour dates starting this summer.

LYRICS:
Hips Don't Lie

Ladies up in here tonight
No fighting, no fighting
We got the refugees up in here
No fighting, no fighting

Shakira, Shakira

I never really knew that she could dance like this
She makes a man wants to speak Spanish
Como se llama, bonita, mi casa, su casa
Shakira, Shakira

Oh baby when you talk like that
You make a woman go mad
So be wise and keep on
Reading the signs of my body

And I'm on tonight
You know my hips don't lie
And I'm starting to feel it's right
All the attraction, the tension
Don't you see baby, this is perfection

Hey Girl, I can see your body moving
And it's driving me crazy
And I didn't have the slightest idea
Until I saw you dancing

And when you walk up on the dance floor
Nobody cannot ignore the way you move your body, girl
And everything so unexpected - the way you right and left it
So you can keep on taking it

I never really knew that she could dance like this
She makes a man want to speak Spanish
Como se llama, bonita, mi casa, su casa
Shakira, Shakira

Oh baby when you talk like that
You make a woman go mad
So be wise and keep on
Reading the signs of my body

And I'm on tonight
You know my hips don't lie
And I am starting to feel you boy
Come on lets go, real slow
Don't you see baby asi es perfecto

Oh I know I am on tonight my hips don't lie
And I am starting to feel it's right
All the attraction, the tension
Don't you see baby, this is perfection
Shakira, Shakira

Oh boy, I can see your body moving
Half animal, half man
I don't, don't really know what I'm doing
But you seem to have a plan
My will and self restraint
Have come to fail now, fail now
See, I am doing what I can, but I can't so you know
That's a bit too hard to explain

Baila en la calle de noche
Baila en la calle de día

Baila en la calle de noche
Baila en la calle de día

I never really knew that she could dance like this
She makes a man want to speak Spanish
Como se llama, bonita, mi casa, su casa
Shakira, Shakira

Oh baby when you talk like that
You know you got me hypnotized
So be wise and keep on
Reading the signs of my body

Senorita, feel the conga, let me see you move like you come from Colombia

Mira en Barranquilla se baila así, say it!
Mira en Barranquilla se baila así

Yeah
She's so sexy every man's fantasy a refugee like me back with the Fugees from a 3rd world country
I go back like when 'pac carried crates for Humpty Humpty
I need a whole club dizzy
Why the CIA wanna watch us?
Colombians and Haitians
I ain't guilty, it's a musical transaction
No more do we snatch ropes
Refugees run the seas 'cause we own our own boats

I'm on tonight, my hips don't lie
And I'm starting to feel you boy
Come on let's go, real slow
Baby, like this is perfecto

Oh, you know I am on tonight and my hips don't lie
And I am starting to feel it's right
The attraction, the tension
Baby, like this is perfection

No fighting
No fighting

So I guess this song isn't in Oral fixation vol. II :(
There're great songs in there that should be singles... How do you do, Timor or Illegal are just 3 examples

I agree with propi. Added songs suck for fans who immediately bought the album at its release. Plus, there's so many hit potential songs on OF2 that it's a shame she releases this first. I hope it won't suck!

I haven’t heard the song yet, Ben, but will comment when I do.
It was “Shakira Weekend” last week on "Number One TV" (one of Turkish TV channels) and I’m sure you would love to watch her. :D

Really? Oh, you guys need to catch up with her soon. :D
By the way, it is good for her that she lost some weight. As popular as it is nowadays, she needed to get rid of that “Mediterranean figure” urgently! ;)

Oral Fixation Vol. II was a flop, so i guess Epic asked her to do the English version of the "La Tortura"

Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that this song is basically a cover of a song that Wyclef did with Claudette Ortiz of City High for the Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights soundtrack called Dance Like This. His lyrics in that one are pretty much the same as here. Check it out. You'll see that it's basically the same song. ;)
