She always does well in Paris. So when she loses in the first round *knocks wood*, we all know that Tati is in a major slump.

PS : Tokyo doesn't count as it is much faster than normal indoor court.

Allez Tania. :hearts:. This is where we need to atke out the voodoo dolls. :p (which I've been saying for the past couple of threads and since no one has said anything about it, so I assumed it is lame and I shall stop it. And why am I still talking? :p)

Tati 'bout her match against Domachowska, in french :

Tatiana Golovin (opposée à la Polonaise Domachowska au premier tour) :Il y a de très bonnes joueuses. J’ai de très bons souvenirs ici. Après un début de saison mitigé, j’espère me reprendre et retrouver la confiance. Je vais jouer contre une fille qui frappe fort donc il y aura beaucoup de fautes et de points gagnants (rires dans l’assistance générale). J’aurais préféré jouer plus de matches en début de saison mais je me suis bien entraîné.

yes please to all our french speaking friends.

Here we are .. Probably some mistakes here and there and it took me more time than I expected to translate it :D

Q: Tatiana what do you think of Sania Mirza?
Tati: I played against her last year in Tokyo.. She's a player who hit lot of winners but also made lot of faults.. I'll have to hold out.

Q: You made a sign "3" with your fingers tuesday after you won, what does that mean?
Tati: It was a sign for my box. Private joke!

Q: You changed your racket, why?
Tati: Now I play with a Wilson while I played with a Volk before. I changed everything, stringing, ect... I must get used to it but it should be ok.

Q: What kind of surface is the best for you?
Tati: Fast surfaces like hard court. But I also got some good results on clay. I think my game is ok for all surfaces.

Q: What about your collaboration with Tarik Benhabilès? Is he here in Paris with you?
Tati: He's not with me. He's in Florida. We made a good training, let's hope it will continue.

Q: We saw articles in the press saying it was not joyful with Benhabilès..
Tati: No, it's wrong, that's rumours... I don't know who said that! Maybe the Croats, because Karlovic likes to be with Benhabilès. But be reassured, everything is ok!

Q: Will you play again with Richard Gasquet in mixed double?
Tati: No. I don't know what's wrong with him but he doesn't want to play with me. He told me that he didn't want to spend to much energy, he doesn't want to play too much...

Q: Tati, you didn't have a great year in 2005, why?
Tati: I think I made a good 2005 season. I was a bit injured but I'm proud of my year. I beat some Top 10 players.

Q: What need to be improved in your game?
Tati: I have to improve my BH. And I must improve the way I come to the net, my volley.

Q: Will you play the Fed cup?
Tati: Of course, I hope! It's part of my goals, it's an honour to play for France. And it'll always be. As long as I'll be in the team.

Q: Are you happy for Amélie, what did you feel when she won?
Tati: I was very happy, most of all for French tennis. She deserves it really! I was in Tokyo and I don't remember exactly what I was doing at this moment! I hope to be the next one!

Q: Do you think Henin should have finished the finale?
Tati: Yes, I think she should have finished it. But we don't know what really happened! It seems that she had an ulcer but it was a finale so she should have finished it.

Q: What about your partnership with Hingis in double?
Tati: It was very nice. it's her who asked me for it, I was surprised because I didn't expect that. I think we'll play together again. I'm impressed by her good eye.

Q: What's the best souvenir of your career until now?
Tati: My matches against Serena in Wimbledon and US Open... The Fed cup too, as well as my double mixt title with Gasquet in Roland Garros.

Q: Karatantcheva got caught positive at just 16 year old. You also started very young, did anyone suggest you to take some products?
Tati: No and I think it's useless idiot and disgusting that a so young girl falls in this trap! I'm shocked! You don't need that in tennis.

Q: What is the player that impressed you the most?
Tati: Clijters because she had to stop and as soon as she came back, she won! hat's off! frankly, that's huge! And Federer for the men. I know him a little, he's very nice and natural all the time.

Q: What do you think of Marion Bartoli and Virginie Razzano?
Tati: Both of the them played in Fed cup but I don't know them much. I have no special affinities with them.

Q: Are Fed cup and Olympic games important for you?
Tati: Yes because Tennis is so individual that it's very important to play in a team for your country. I was very disappointed to not go to Athens. And when you see that the one who was there at my place lost 0 & 1 (Testud lost 6-0 6-2 to Silvia Farina)

Q: What do you think of Mary Pierce's come-back after all her problems going down to the 300s. Is she a model for you?
Tati: It's impressive! You don't really want to play against her because she's strong! And it's motivating to see that you can come back after some hard moments..

Q: Do you know Maria Sharapova? You are of the same generation...
Tati: Yes because we grew together at the time we were with Bolletieri but now our ways are different.

Q: Some criticize you for your lack of concentration and fair play (for example your match against Smashnova in US Open 2005) what is your answer?
Tati: Who said that? I think she has exaggerated! She's a sore loser! She didn't shake hands with me! Even though I wanted...

Q: What do you think of the "affaire Santoro"?
Tati: I think they are both right and wrong.. Fabrice knew he would play the Davis cup so he souldn't have played this exhibition. But Guy has been to severe! he should have been more cool but there are rules in a team...

Q: Who was your idol when you started to play tennis?
Tati: Steffi Graf and André Agassi. Now I know them well, and it's funny to play with them! I often meet André with Brad. The last time he even wanted to correct the way I serve because he said we can see too easily where I'll put the ball.

Q: What's your favourite tournament?
Tati: Roland-Garros!!! And all the tournaments in France.

Q: What are your best friends in tennis (males and females)?
Tati: All the girls in the Fed cup team and all the Russians girls. As for males, even if we don't see them a lot, they're all nice. They're guys so...

Q: Your sister Olga is pregnant, you must be happy?
Tati: Yes! She will have a baby boy, for March. We'll be more numerous in Roland-Garros.

Q: We compared you to Kournikova at the beginning, less now, what do you think? Happy or not?
Tati: I think that it's not necessary anymore! You don't need to compare players! We have our own personality.

Q: Tati, where do you live all year?
Tati: All over the world (Laughs). But most of the time in Miami and France.

Q: You changed your hair colour, because you were tired to be a blonde?
Tati: Exactly!! I like to change.

Q: Do you like children? Want some? After or during your career?
Tati: Yes! I want some after! I can't imagine stopping (my career) and then restarting again. I want 3 !

Q: Do you listen to music before going on the court? What kind?
Tati: It depends... Not much! If I listen to music it's Techno/dance

Q: Do you have a boyfriend if it's not too indiscreet to ask?
Tati: No I don't!

Q: When you're in love, does it help you to have better results?
Tati: I hope .. I think love gives you wings!

Q: If you were not a tennis player, what would have been your job?
Tati: I would have liked to be a spy! I watch "Totally spies" every morning on tv.

Q: You're a fashion victim; When you're in Paris, do you go shopping?
Tati: Yes I go shopping in Paris. I do it when I'm here! It's too hot in Miami to wear clothes! And there's everything in Paris!

Q: Are you still studying? And what do you study?
Tati: I think I was too lazy last year but this year I'll begin again. I want to be in Business. I want to be a formidable Businesswoman! I'm very strict in Business.. or a spy lol

Q: What your favorite meal?
Tati: I like desserts.. I adore chocolate. And also Mexican meals or a McDo once in a while. I like to eat what I want.

Q: You prefer Gael Monfils or Richard Gasquet?
Tati: I prefer ... both of them! I know know them both! But they are too young for me! Gael is not with Alizée Cornet anymore, it lasted 2/3 months, it's not so bad!

Q: Do people recognized you in the streets?
Tati: In France a lot more than in the US! It's more simple in the US. In France people recognized me more.

Q: Did you still have time to go out with friends?
Tati: I try... I just partied for my 18th brithday. It's important to spend some time with family, friends! I try to go in cinema, restaurants, nightclubs for dancing...

Tati played Antwerp last year too. So I don't think it's such a big deal. She played Sydney last year but not this year and is replaced with Tokyo which I don't think she should play at all cause the court doesn't suit her game (and hence the score :o). After Antwerp, she would rest for 2 weeks and then off to IW and Miami I supposed.

She tooks Amelie in 3 sets , she plays a very high level against Petrova and Mauresmo. It's a very good news.
She has made a lot of progress since last year.

I saw the first match point. Tati was very nervous but Amelie too. Amelie just put the ball in, and Tati done an horrible mistakes, a backhand directly in the net.

After that, it was finish. Amelie stop to make unforced errors, Tati continued to play a very high level but Amelie was a little bit better.

Tati's reaction after her fight against Momo :

In a match between France's best player, No. 1 seed Amélie Mauresmo, and one of her young national challengers, Tatianan Golovin, the most experienced athlete qualified for the Open Gaz de France final after two hours and fifty minutes of suspense but not always of high-quality game. (Picture: Panoramic)

Amélie Mauresmo did not waste her time at the beginning of the match, immediately breaking Golovin's serve, which did not surprise anyone as the oldest of the two French was everyone's favourite. After a serious scare in the following game, that lasted 12 minutes and saw her save four break points, Mauresmo held on to her serve and added a break to her record to lead 5-0. But no point was easily won, as both players were fighting hard, not hesitating to rush to the net or hit risky shots to the delightment of the Coubertin stadium spectators who had obviously picked Mauresmo as the player to cheer for in that 100% French match. No game went undisputed, yet Amélie was in control of all crucial points, physically, tactically and mentally overpowering her opponent.

Then came what appeared to be the second start of the match, as Golovin's game became more consistent while Mauresmo looked stuck in the initial slow rythm of the match. Thanks to a better reading of the 2006 Australian Open champion's shots, it was Tatiana Golovin's turn to win five games in a row, saving three set points in the process. The players had been on court for an hour but were still tied in the first set. As she was leading 6-5, Mauresmo offered Golovin a tie-break on her sixth double fault. Amelie Mauresmo's lack of serenity showed in important points and the Russian-born teenager won the set on her first set point.

She then proceeded to ride her momentum at the beginning of the second set, broke Mauresmo's serve and stayed ahead throughout the set, eventually leading 5-3. But her hand started shaking as she served for the match, beginning the game with a double fault and netting what would be her only match point, allowing Mauresmo to come back to 5-5, score two games in a row and pocket the second set 7-5.

Both players took a break before the start of the final set to muster all their energy and focus. A player still had to take an advantage and it was Mauresmo who, just like she had done at the very beginning of the match, distanced her compatriot and won the third set 6-2 on her second match point after 2 hours and 50 minutes, making that match the longest in the tournament so far. Amélie Mauresmo set a date with Mary Pierce for tomorrow in what will be the first 100% French final of the Open Gaz de France.

After the match, Tatiana Golovin explained it had taken her too long to recover from her missed match point in the second set, especially since she felt that was a shot she could not miss. That is why she refused to call the match a good one for her despite pushing the world's number 2 player to three sets, saying she had once again lost a match because of her backhand. She credited Mauresmo for causing her problems with her sliced shots and solid tactics.

Amélie Mauresmo later said: "I wasn't feeling too good on the court, my legs were not totally there. When I was ahead 5-0 and she came back, the problem was more physical than mental. But it could have been worse if this had not been the semi-final of the Open Gaz de France, where I always want to play as well as possible. The spectators' support probably helped me in the most difficult parts of the match. But as I said earlier this week, when people give you such a warm welcome, all you want is stay in the tournament as long as you can. Right now, I'm not really thinking about my match against Mary tomorrow. I'm totally focused on physically recovering from today. But I still watched part of her match this morning, and she was obviously at the top against Patty Schnyder."
