Anna Smashnova is doubtful with shoulder injury. If she plays, Savranski probably won't. Tzipi and Shahar are likely to play in doubles.

I think we would better have Anna as #1, on clay she's better than Shahar.

Anna is going (injury permitting) to play in FC for the 15th succesive year, and will break the record of ties played currently held by Arantxa Sanchez Vicario.

Because it's a "pools" system, so every team has to play at least 3 pool matches, and then if they are top of their pool, they also haveto play anotherp lay off match. So it can't exactly be done in 1 weekend, can it? ;)

Fed Cup rules dictate that seeding should be determined by Fed Cup ranking:
Teams will be seeded by the Fed Cup Committee in accordance with the most
recent Fed Cup Nations Ranking.
Where there are pools of different numbers of teams, the highest seeded teams
will be placed in the pool with the least number of teams; the second seed will be
placed in the pool with the second least number of teams, and so on until all the
seeds are placed.

I dont like it too :( ITF made the rules about seeded teams right?
It was decided in last year's AGM that all seeding will be determined by Davis Cup/Fed Cup ranking, with the exception of the champion and runner-up that are seeded 1 and 2.

what a crappy draw for GB

if it aint bad enough thats it's on clay every bloody year, we get ukraine (2 bondarenkos = no chance), bulgaria (pironkova should win both her rubbers-but there is hope) and hungary (czink and nagy are decent)

so GBs best chance is against bulgaria-thank god maggie retired and karatantcheva got pregnant...or not depending on who you believe

COME ON GB!!! (at least win a couple of rubbers)
