Nan Nan   . Why did she have to meet Zi :( . I had told Zi in Hochiminh City that her matches against Nan Nan were tighter and tighter. She had smiled then. She has even more reasons to smile now.

Tian Tian  . Too many 3-setters in this tourney.

Well done to Zi and Jie. They are confirming here on grass their current good shape :) (Zi with a little bit of luck).

What a bad draw! :fiery:

My 3 faves(Hiraki,Kyung-Mi & Mi-ra) in one quarter. :fiery:

Gifu and Fukuoka challenger turned out to be a big disaster for Kyung-Mi to play #2 YJ Cho in 1st round back to back. :fiery:

They're good friends so it should be some pressure to Kyung-mi and her game is very aggressive but has some weakness,... and Cho knows them well. :o Hope Kyung-mi has better draw in China.

Good job, Rika! :D I'm wondering how Jie Zheng will play against Rika who is good at net. Heard that Jie has good backhand,... wondering it's better than Na Li's (one of the best backhand from Asian girl)...?

Good job, Mi-ra! :D :wavey:
Next one is Yoon-jeon Cho. I know you have BIG pressure playing against junior teammate & roommate. But show no mercy this time,.... you're better player on grass. :wavey:

Go, Rika Hiraki, Anne Keothavong, Shinobu Asagoe, Kristen Van Elden, Vanessa Webb, Flavia Pennetta, Anne Keothavong ! :D

Steveg : :wavey: I know she has one match before semi. ;)
But I don't think Jie will use moon-ball tactics. (on grass  ). Even if she has good backhand, it will be very hard to hurt Mi-ra. I don't think anyone in this challenger event can just overpower Mi-ra with their stroke,... otherwise they use some other weapons such as moonball or net play,..etc.

To be frank with you,....I'm somewhat worried. :o Cause anything can happen like last week,... playing Shinobu in indoor court than grass due to rain. :(

Go, Mi-ra~~~~

It is not Jie's style to moonball. But she has not won 4 ITF doubles titles in a row for nothing ;) . She can try to got to the net on Mi-Ra backhand :) . I think it can work on this surface  .

We'll see anyway in a few hours :wavey: .

Thanks for the result, Steveg. :wavey:

For the top-half, hopefully Julie wins the battle. Cause Vanessa's game & style would be least favorable for Mi-ra. ;) Julie is not that fast but she's good at net,.. so she can have some chance against Vanessa,..hopefully. ( sorry Vanessa. :o )

I like Flavia more but Evie was the only one left with 4 quality points. :( Flavia has good stroke game,..she showed good backhand down the line sometimes, against Mi-ra two weeks ago,... but I don't think that's enough to win. I'm wondering she is still wearing the stunning dark violet outfit.

Feel sorry for Jie. I've never seen her play,... but wanted to see her backhand. I thought Na Li's backhand would be the best one among Asian girls. We'll see. She got bageled but fought hard in second,.. that's good sign. Good luck to her next week in her homeland. :D

Well done, Mi-ra! :bounce: If you keep rolling, you can go all the way!
As she has some good results in challenger events,... severe critics to her 2 weeks ago (which was not fair and could have hurt & ruin her whole career :( ) has been turning to some of supports. :D

Good luck in Semi.

What will be her ranking after this tournament? Anyone? ;)

Mi-Ra has currently 161.50 points (ranked #186). She had 13 points to defend this week.

If I am not mistaken, she will get :
- 31.5 points if she loses tomorrow (24.5 round points * and 7 quality points)
- 44 points if she wins the final (35 round points * and 9 quality points)

* I was told this tourney does not include Hospitality.

This would give her therefore :
- 180 points in the first case -> new ranking around #167
- 192.5 points in the second case -> new ranking around #163

Thanks danker and Steveg! :)

I am glad Mi-Ra gets a well-deserved rest afterthis tournament. As much I want to see her win matches, I wouldn't want her to play 5 weeks in a row.

Good luck tomorrow, Mi-Ra :)

Terrific result for Vanessa and Mi-Ra :) Just as I hoped ;)

Really would like to see Vanny get this title as she needs as much confidence as possible at the moment. Should be a good match since both love the surface :)

End of a great run for Julie after winning eight matches in a row. Hope she and Lorna walk away with doubles title tomorrow to cap a great three-week swing for her in Asia.

Mi-Ra - just didn't perform on the big day did you? - bad luck - but you should be very proud of your performance this week.

Congrats to Vanny... she has always been a tough singles player. ):

Congrats, Vanessa.

Poor, Mi-ra~

Mi-ra was not ready to play against Vannesa mentally & technically. :(

Vanessa's game style is just least favorable to Mi-ra. Her ground stoke has not much pace,... most of the shots are approach shot,.. so it's big touble to Mi-ra cause she's using opponent's pace rather than her own. And Vanessa is usually play at net. So I hoped Julie would win the other semi,...cause her groundies have more pace,...even though has good volley too.

Anyway, it's good to see Mi-ra put a fight in second. Next time she will do better. :D

Good luck next time, Mi-ra ! :D

And many thanks to all the posters in this thread for the results, good comments and everything.
