The BBC says Elena made over 40 unforced errors.

Same old story for Bally....Pity.

Isn't it time Elena got a new coach? She has the weapons to make an impact at a higher level on the tour but seemingly no idea how to harness them effectively. The result is that this loss has essentially erased her ranking. :o

Back to the drawing board, Elena!

Poor Elena. And all the other Brit girls are out too and the male qualifiers too. That just leaves us with Tiger Tim (doubtless an early bath for him) and Andy Murray with, potentially, a second round match against Hewitt. Looks like we'll be Brit-less before the end of the first week!

Too bad for the Brit girls, hopefully they'll do well in the Challengers over the next 3 months and get their rankings up.

Is Meng the girl who played Serena at last year's U.S. Open? If she is, I think she has a lot of potential. She was SO consistent, with very crisp strokes for such a young player.
