Hmm... I thought Annika Sorenstam was a little higher than them. Although she maybe doesn't have as much off-court income.

But on the whole, female tennis players are surely the most recognised female athletes in the world.

I'm not surprised!
I wonder if Maria wins another GS, how much more she will earn. ;)

Yep...was wondering about her whereabouts too. What about Michelle Wie? I think she at the end of last year she signed a major endorsement deal with Sony. Iīve heard sheīs the highest ranked female golfer.

I think that prize money is unreasonably high in tennis. For example best female volleyball players in the world would probably earn around $500,000 per season ( especially in Russian league which is considered the best paid). I don't understand why an athlete gets over a million dollars for winning a GS, it's all about money

Thatīs true but just think about how many players are actually able to win a slam in one year? Usually they are top-players and they earn definetly too much. However the WTA/ATP have thousands of players who try to make it to the top and for the majority of them their dream wonīt come true but instead they have spent a bunch of money for coaching, hotels, flights etc. and will end up coaching tennis at the age of 28 in a tennis club which has three courts. Not to be forgotten: Other than in team sports, tennis players are only paid when they win. Team players receive a monthly salary, tennis players donīt.

Winning a million dollar for having won 7 matches in a row is crazy but itīs the price for the hard work they had to go through.

You can always compare it to other professions. I mean I donīt undestand why Brad Pitt gets 20 mio. Dollars for one month of work neither...or some tv-actors who get a million for each (!) episode of a 25-minute comedy they work for four days.

Money is never divided equally. As much as I hate it, itīs just the way it is.

Well, to be fair, Maria worked hard too, itīs just that sheīs also great looking. Same goes for Michelle Wie.
