Now that the seedings are done, which UNseeded players do the seeded players NOT want to draw in the first round?

I say Misa Krajicek, Lucie Safarova and Martina Hingis

well, she might not beat them - but Smashnova is the type of player that even bageling her takes 30 minutes.
seeds won't be happy to play a lengthy match in the sun risking injuries while Anna returns evrything back.

other than that Shahar has a nice record of upsetting seeds at slams.
it's far from fun meeting Vinci or Peshke early, Raymond and Cho are playing much better than thier rankings suggest and Loit is a tough lefty.
Schruff seems to have catched the swing of Rebound Ace much better than anyone would have predicted, beggining the year really nicely and out of the top100 there are dangerous russians Vesnina and Voskoboeva that like thier compatriots - ban pull off a huge one out of the blue. this could be thier turn.

lastly - the seeds are very luck to have Ahsley Harkelroad playing Quallies. she is definatly top50 stuff and she definatly found form.

oh and all the local girls play really well on aussie grounds.
they are exrtremelly patriotic and every year we have a new girl reaching the third round ousting a seed in route only to do badly all year long.
still - for the seed that lost to the local, that won't be comforting.

Hopefully Martina will get a nice draw and won't have to play a seed till 2nd or 4rd round, and hopefully not a top one. I just want to see her get some matches in and it'd be great if she could reach the third or fourth round.

besides those already mentioned maybe sprem on a good day....or linetskaya if she's playing, and possibly kirilenko although i don't think she'll cause much of a problem for the top seeds.

As much as I love Kata, I'm sure she 'd like to avoid them (and so would I ) more than the contrary... :tape:

I would divide the unseeded threats into two classes.

Class A (could pose a threat to a top seed): Hingis and Krajicek
Class B (could pose a threat to a lower seed): Shuai, Safarova, Na and Shaughnessy

As for some other suggestions like Pin or Harkleroad: I don't like their chances against most unseeded players, let alone any of the top 32.

:: pin ::

I guarantee you that as I type this, Lindsay Davenport is giving Paul McNamee (or whatever his name is) $100,000 to put Pin in Kim's section of the draw. Lindsay's scared I tells ya.

You heard it here first!

hmm..hingis, peng those are the first 2 that come to my head.

i'd love to see a hingis williams first round matchup. haha just becuz how often do we get to see those????

and also for martina it will be alil more fair, both venus/serena both dont have much match play...kind of an even battleground.

I don't think the top 10 seeds care who they play in the early rounds. They know they will win it easily. Even if it's Hingis. ESPECIALLY, if it's Hingis. After Justine put her away easily this week, I doubt any top player will shake in her boots at Hingis in the first round.:tape:

i take it svetlana (being a seed herself)

then would have a hard time winning based on how justine put her away aswell?

stosur might be dangerous
danilidou is always able to upset a weak top player
maybe morigami

and the others mentioned of course

Miss Frazier on a hard court would not excite one of the lower seeds

Put Martina in the top 1/4 and draw her so could play Lindsay in the thrid ro fourth round. I'm not a Martina fan but her winning a few rounds would be good for the women's tournement. She will get hammered if she draws a top seed in the first round.

For players like Lindsay, Kim, Amelie, Justine- I don't think any unseeded player would worry them

Now on down, I think Hingis, Peng, Peschke, and Zvonareva (shes outside 32 right?)
