Aww. I always thought she was pretty.
She's satisfied with most things in her life. She's made over a mill in the last 18 months. Olympic medal in tennis. Doubles slam in her own country. She's commentating now.
The girl is definately set for life in Australia. She never has to play another tourni again.

Now she's talking: Molik will be back when she's ready

http://www.smh.com.au/news/tennis/molik-will-be-back-when-shes-ready/2006/01/11/1136956243439.html?page=2

ALICIA Molik has not set a comeback date and noted that she had positioned herself to fail by having unrealistic goals as she attempted to play with an inner-ear infection last year.

The former world No.8 is still affected by vision and balance problems and has no timeframe for when she may hit a tennis ball competitively or even in training.

"I'll step onto the court again when I really feel that much better," Molik said. "I have no timeframe whatsoever. Last year I had goals and targets and I constantly disappointed myself. I was setting myself up to fall."

She started 2005 with great success, winning 14 of her first 17 matches. But in March she was struck down with vestibular neuronitis, and from April onwards she started a roller-coaster of withdrawals and first-round failures on the WTA tour. The illness made her dizzy, disoriented and tired.

While some have expressed doubts about whether Molik can reach her full potential again, she herself knows the answer.

"I know I'll do it again," Molik said. "There's no question. In my mind I'm still a tennis player." :D :hearts:

This time last year she won the Sydney International and went on to make the quarter-finals of the Australian Open. But, due to the illness, she went on to withdraw from tournaments in Charleston, Berlin, Rome and the French Open. In October, her frustrations came to a head when she forfeited the opening match of her title defence to Jelena Jankovic in Zurich.

Molik left the court in tears. Up to that point she had won only one match in her past seven tournaments. She then announced an extended break from the game to recover from the illness.

"I've been fighting this for a long time now," Molik said last October. "I've done the best I could possibly have done, and I think it's time to do something for myself for a change. I want to take a lot of stress out of my life. This could improve, it could stagnate or it could remain with me for a lengthy period of time. I need to accept that, if that's the case."

Molik yesterday lamented that the timing of her injury was frustrating, but she did not count herself unlucky.

"People call it unlucky, but I think it, injury, comes with the territory of sport," Molik said yesterday. "Maybe it would have been better if this problem had come at the end of the career."

She was speaking at the Sydney International Tennis Centre where she was scoping out the Channel Seven commentary box. :D

It will be her workplace for the coming weeks and she'll make her commentary debut at the women's final tomorrow. Molik is also scheduled to do more commen- tating at the Australian Open. :woohoo:

"I'm there to offer a player's perspective, to add a bit of colour," Molik said, adding that she'd be interested in commentating when she finished playing.

Considering the success she had last year and many tipping her to win a grand slam tournament, how does she feel watching her competitors?

"I enjoy watching tennis but I do get itchy feet," Molik said. "I do get itchy feet again watching the girls perform. But with commentating I do get to keep a close eye on what the competition is doing, and whether there is a change in style of play."

While she hasn't been near the tennis court she's enjoying other activities to maintain her fitness.

"I haven't been [training on the court]," Molik said. "I've been maintaining my fitness by bike riding and swimming. I still do train as a tennis player. When I do come back, I want to be able to go back into the roll of things again."

There are positives, though, to her enforced sabbatical.

"Over Christmas and New Year I spent a lot of time with my family," Molik said. "Usually I have playing commitments, but now I am resting and recuperating."

While she enjoys taking it easy without tennis, she harbours a fierce desire to play again.

Molik said she admired the way former world No.1 Martina Hingis had charged back onto the WTA tour after overcoming a chronic foot injury.

"I think she's doing pretty damn good," Molik said.

And she's hoping her own recovery goes that way, too. :hearts: :hearts:

Good Luck Alicia

Hey is it ok if i post a pic here too?

She was at the grounds having a chat with someone, and I saw her later on the phone. I took a photo from a distance away so as not to disturb her, so my apologies if the pic isn't any good.
