Too bad they'll have to play in the final round if they get that far. Hopefully someone pulls out of the MD and Vania beats Ashley, so both can get in.

And Jessica Kirkland is on her way to winning her first match. Good first day for the Americans!

yeah i know..but there is almost for sure to be 1 or 2 withdrawls. If Vania were to beat Ashley then she would still get on because she is the highest seed :worship: :bounce: If a perfect world it would work out that way... :p

Sunitha.., but nice to see junior Americans winning, even though Rao is young herself.

Ashley. :yeah:. Really its a win/win for her. She can make it through qualifying on her own, or lose and still get in. She got very lucky.

i don't understand how this works - does Harkleroad have to get to the last round of qualifying to be guaranteed a spot if someone withdraws or is she just next in no matter what?

i hope so because i think Parmentier won't be all a pushover in the next round

They'll face each other in the final round. Hopefully someone pulls out of the MD, so they can both make it.
