One thing, I find it odd Serena is not on the poll and some of these names are, but whatever.

I'm aware of that. But she wasn't a main choice... oh well. Let's bump this at the end of the season to see where everyone lands.

So why wasn't she the best player in the world when she played just as much two or three years ago?

Maybe she wasn't mature enough and tried too hard.

I actually think this year, it will be pretty even among the top players.

Jan 12th, 2006, 04:03 AM
Whoever on the top that can get a full-season and in-form. I hope and think it will come down to Justine and Kim.

Justine played 9 events last year and won 4 of them. Kim didn't even make 20 and won 9, and Lindsay of course won 6. It's between them. Venus and Serena could make the top, but they don't play as much besides the obvious tournaments, and Amelie and Mary will have their share, but neither will get past 5.

Okay, so her having the most titles is not WHY she's the best.

Sveta will win some as I am not giving up on this kid. she just needs to improve on some areas but she is young.

Probably Mauresmo because she plays more tournaments then the Belgiums and has in general avoided injuries in recent years.

Oh please, if Kim decided to play everything again, i can bet any money that she'll get injured pretty soon.. AGAIN!

Amelie has a good shot, and so does Justine. Lindsay is not a bad bet either, especially when the hardcourts come back.

But Maria?? :spit: It's more likely she'll win nothing, unless she goes back to Soeul, Quebec and Birmingham. In top quality titles.. with players like Amelie, Justine, Kim and hopefully the WS (back into the swing of things).. she is as they say - TOAST!

Incorrect. That's the reason she's the HIGHEST RANKED player in the world today...Currently, Justine and Amelie are in better form than Kimmy.

BTW I think it will be Amelie. But I don't think she'll win another slam this year...well, I think she could win RG. it's pretty much either gonna be Kimmy, Momo or Juju who wins RG. :) I probably jinxed it now.

back in the days when graf used to play she would have won almost a dozen titles by now
