It's Quarter Final day at the Gold Coast! Who will be going through to the semi-finals???

Gold Coast

Patty Schynder (1) versus Lucie Safarova
The Swiss top seed who is defending the title this week meets the 18 year old hotly-tipped Czech. Patty has yet to drop a set and dished out a bagel while Lucie has beaten seeded Ai Sugiyama and played a tough three setter against qualifier Gajdosova.

I think its likely that Patty will take this tie in two sets as she has the most experience. I think it will be a two set win, one tight set and then Patty will run away.

Predict : Patty Schynder beats Lucie Safarova 7-6 6-2

Flavia Pennetta (4) versus Tatiana Golovin (5)
The Italian #2 takes on the French #3. Both are playing well and yet to drop a set. Golovin won their last encounter, here, in three sets last year.

I think that Tatiana will win the encounter; it will be a tough three setter. I just feel that Golovin has the hardcourt technique over Flavia who loves the clay.

Predict : Tatiana Golovin beats Flavia Pennetta 6-4 4-6 6-4

Martina Hingis versus Nuria Llagostera Vives
Martina has certainly made a splash here in her comeback tournament - taking out Klara Koukalova, the tournament's seventh seed and Maria Vento Kabchi. She now faces the conqueror of second seed Schiavone, Llagostera Vives. Martina never met Nuria first time round on the tour.

I think its likely that Martina will carry on her form and her comeback to the game with a straight sets win.

Predict : Martina Hingis beats Nuria Llagostera Vives 6-3 6-3

Dinara Safina (3) beats Anabel Medina Garrigues (8)
Both playing well, yet to drop a set. Dinara is doing especially well bageling twice. Anabel has yet to be really tested (played Rolle and Nakamura) while Safina has played Benesova and Linetskaya. Dinara leads the head-to-head series 1-0 (Luxembourg Semi Final 04).

I think Dinara will carry on her strong form, although we wont see her bageling Anabel tomorrow.

Predict : Dinara Safina (3) beats Anabel Medina Garrigues (8) 6-4 6-3

Jesus, for the 3454354th time, Flavia's favourite surface is hardcourts. :p

I think Hingis will win for sure. The other match-ups are toss ups really.

I think the riskiest one is Pennetta-Golovin. Both have what it takes to win the match, and both have played well here. Pennetta is a lot better than she was at the start of last season, and I don't really know how much Golovin has improved.
