Maybe in 4 years they will be GS contenders! :clap2:

Well Jennifer can start playing ITF junior events now so that should be interesting! However, I think Jessica is the one to watch as she has actually beaten her sister the last two times they played and is a year and a half younger!

I agree about Jessica, it'll be a while before she can start making an impact...but it could be pretty huge when she does.

Jessica is playing a British Tour in Shrewsbury this week and has beaten Francesca Kinsella 63 63 in the first round. She plays Claire Ricketts next. That's a great win over a top 300 junior player from last year! :D

I thought Jessica was the eldest?

Nope Jessica is over a year and a half younger than Jennifer...

She lost 6-3 6-2...an excellent scoreline against a top 1000 player...

The Ren sisters are playing the European Winter Team Championships 14s division and have helped GBR d. Croatia!

Great Britain d. Croatia 3-0

Jessica Ren d. Blazena Lukac 62 36 62
Jennifer Ren d. Andrea Konjuh 64 64
Ren/Curry d. Banovec/Lukac 63 67(4) 76(7)

Those are great wins for the sisters especially Jessica beating the U-12 Orange Bowl runner up from last year (who beat Jennifer in the semis). :bounce:

Well done Jen, another good tournament for you. :wavey: Just pipped by the unseeded local girl, how'd that happen.

I was watching Jen and Jess play a practice match against each other today, they are pretty awesome for their ages. Quite entertaining too, typical sisters winding each other up all the time, very amusing.

Both have been nominated for Junior LTA Player Of The Year - log on www.lta.org.uk

Oct 21st, 2006, 10:38 AM
I voted on those LTA awards yesterday: Mel South for player of the year and Jessica Ren for junior player of the year.

Jessica Ren lost in the final of the 14 & under Nationals back in August (to Heather Watson) but the two Rens teamed up to win the doubles.
In the 16 & under nationals, both girls made the 2nd round, whilst Jessica won the 12s without losing a set (beating Joanna Henderson in the final).

Jennifer Ren had a disappointing tournament at the first of the 18s grand prix, at the end of September in Hull, losing to Lereesa Easterbrook first round, and then Olivia Smith in the consolation event.

As far as I know, Kate Warne-Holland is still their coach, but often it's just one or both of their parents who travel with them.

Jessica is into the semis of the 12s event at the Eddie Herr International after winning her quarterfinal 60 60. She is the clear favorite for the title! Jennifer, however, lost in the third round of the 14s event even though she was seeded 11.

Jessica's in the final after a dominating 62 62 win in the semis. She's playing fellow Brit Laura Robson in the final! Go Jessica (and Laura)! :D

Jessica in the 4th round at the U12 Orange Bowl after beating Patricia Martins 62 63. She faces Christine Kandler next. Go Jessica! :bounce:

Jessica beat Kandler and Kovalets today as they were playing catchup due to the rain. She faces Laura again in the semis. I'm thinking she'll get revenge this time. The winner will face either Shakovets or Dandik. Go Jessica!

Jessica avenged her loss to Laura with a 46 61 75 win in the semis. She plays Shakovets in the final. I suppose Jessica should be a heavy favourite! :D

The score of the final was 64 61. Nice and easy! The only player of her age who seems to challenge her at all seems to be Laura Robson which is even better for British tennis! Keep it up girls! :D

Jessica is playing a grade 5 in Dublin this week as the #2 seed. She won her first round 60 60. Jess is currently ranked just inside the top 350 in the junior rankings so needs to be winning these tournaments and getting her ranking up into the top 200 soon.

Jess won her second round match 60 30 ret. In the quarters she faces Amy Bowtell of Ireland.

Jess lost in the semis 63 16 75! :o
I really wish she could get back to her dominant form from a couple years ago. The fact that players like Gavrilova, Mestach and Kolar have overtaken her is ridiculous given her results against them 2-3 years ago!

Jess is playing the Tennis Europe Winter Cup U16 this week as our #1 singles player. She helped GBR defeat Portugal by defeating Patricia Martins 60 62. :D I'm hoping she can finally start catching up to Laura a bit this year as she's obviously extremely talented! They play Belgium next.

from reading the first few pages it seems Jennifer was right up there with Laura a few years ago, just shows you the remarkable progress made Laura over the last 12 months!

I've yet to see either of the sisters play, but I've followed their results with interest for some time (especially as they are from my home town of sheffield ;)), I wish them both well for the future :)

*hingis_forever*

Jess won her match against Laura Bernard 62 62 but GBR lost the tie to Belgium 2-1. Oh well, she did her part.

Feb 8th, 2009, 10:24 PM
Jess won today against Chantal Skamlova (who is a top 100 junior) 64 64 but once again GBR lost 2-1, so they finished 4th.

Jess is in the semis of a Swedish grade 3 event after beating Munozova, Estlander, and Martins. She faces top seed Ellen Allgurin in the semis. They've played twice, splitting the two with Allgurin winning their last meeting. Time for some revenge me thinks!

*hingis_forever*
Mar 6th, 2009, 07:03 PM
Jess beat Allgurin 75 57 64 and faces Milutinovic of Sweden in the final! Great win for Jess! :D

Jess got her first ranking point today at the $10K in Bournemouth with a comprehensive 61 60 win over a Swedish lucky loser. She has a good shot at the quarterfinal as she plays British wildcard, Daneika Borthwick. Good luck Jess! :D

Apr 29th, 2009, 08:19 PM
Good win for Jess :yeah: Great chance for a young Brit to gain some points in round 2! This is only Borthwicks second tournement and it's her second point earned - still only 15 years old. Good luck to both :)

EDIT - just noticed that Brothwick has her own thread now

I actually think Jess will win quite easily. I mean, Joanna Henderson beat Borthwick 60 63 last week and Jess is a better player than Henderson.

Do you reckon she'll get a WC for Junior Wimby this year? She hasnt played any slams yet, would be interesting to see how she got on. With a ranking of 190 shes the obvious top choice out of the players who won't make the MD.

Both girls are in Mexico for the grade 1 Yucatan Junior Cup. Jen reached the third round before succumbing to #1 seed, top 10 junior, Silvia Njiric 64 76. Jessica, on the other hand, came through her third round match in straight sets to make her first ever quarterfinal at this level. She has a great chance at the semis as she faces a Mexican wildcard. Go Jess! :D

The draw Gods were definitely cruel, but at the same time I think this is quite a fun first round. I actually don't think they'd mind playing each other as I've read articles about them and they say they're quite competitive with each other. Like I said, this should be fun!
