I can't wait for this, christmas has dragged this year but now her first match is so close!

I think martina will win a match or two here if she gets a decent draw but looking at the other players she's certainly capable of winning the tournament although for her first pro tourney in 3 years we can't really expect too much from her, I think she'll improve fast though as match toughness returns and the nerves go away.

I'm happy with Martina's draw. She certainly won't get overpowered or anything.

Martina has to win because she has never lost 3 matches in a row for her entire career, and it would be a shame to start off her comeback with her 3rd loss in a row.

With Vento-Kabchi, the key is to make her move, as she's not the fittest player on the tour but has pretty good groundstokes.

I have to say I'm impressed. I've never been a Martina Hingis fan. In fact, there were a number of years when I couldn't stand her (1996-2000). She said a lot of things when she was young that I found offensive (particularly about Graf not being good enough to win another slam, Navratilova being washed up and unable to compete in doubles, Venus' skills, and Mauresmo's sexual orientation). Later I remember supporting her once (when she lost her last Aussie Open final to Capriati), because I'd started to feel sorry for her.

She has really grown on me, now that she's older, more mature, and an underdog. When I heard she was coming back I was impressed. Now that she's playing in singles and doubles, I'm even more impressed. I'm trying to be open minded.

I think this draw has opened up nicely for her. With Schiavone out, Hingis has a clear road to the finals. A matchup between Martina and Patty is interesting. I think it'd be a great top ten matchup for Hingis. Patty (who I LOVE by the way) doesn't really have any weapons that Hingis can't deal with. Plus, Patty's return of serve isn't so monstorous that it will punish Hingis for her medium serve pace.

All in all I just have to say I'm impressed. As a Venus fan, It'll be nice to finally have something in common with all of you die hard Hingis fans...that is of course until the first Venus/Hingis matchup...then all bets are off...
