unfortunately she lost a bit of that fire in the next couple of years.
the two losses to Jen really snapped her confidence, although the tight aussie schedule (Hopman Cup, Sydney, AO) playing doubles with Monica, plus the wins over S&V also zapped her stamina reserves. :sad:

Well, to sum up.. Hingis was beating the crap our of Kournikova who was playing as lousy as my mom...

In the end of 1st set at 40-15 5-1 tp Hingis, Anna called for medical assistance due to rashes in her right hand. She treated her hand with some bandages and anticepitcal. She returned to the match and play the final game of 1st set... after playing 1st game of 2nd set.. she quit the match saying she wasn't able to hold the racket. Then she appologized to the public, bla bla bla bla and than basically ran away back to the Hotel..

Hingis stayed for while in the court complementing her fans and throwing balls to the public at the arena......

Kournikova was injured and when she couldn't play anymore she took the mic and started saying sorry like a few times to the public and Hingis went and hugged her....in a way telling her it is ok....these two obviously seem like good friends still...

Well it is kind of strange that Anna would have a blister when she is not that active lately, My guess is that Anna heard about Hingi's come back plans she she trained extensilvely for this event

Actually, I heard that Anna still trains couple a times a week to keep in shape but she hardly plays matches so that's a different story. And with blisters it's hard to use power or hold your racket. Anna always gives 100% in charity matches, I'm sure she must have been embarrassed that she had to quit.

I believe Hingis' come back makes it more difficult for Anna to decide to come back on the tour herself. Even if she's back in full speed she has a different starting point than Hingis, she didn't win all those tournaments, and the press will jump on her again from the start.

I read a few match interviews of Anna in 2000 and 2001 lately and the media were so obsessed with her. I'm not sure if she can deal with the amount of pressure again if she were coming back.
