Ok guyz. On this thread you can post you're Christmas - wishes for Maria. Please only post kind messages and nothing stupid or bad about Maria. This messages will not be on the letter later on, so please forget these thoughts. It doesn't matter how long you're messages will be, I only want you to write kind things and nothing bad!
Walt says he can post the package to the WTA, and he wants this thread to be closed on December 15th, wich is a good date I think.
That's it guyz. Let's get ready to rumble!!!!!!

Makirians - We agreed to provide two options to get your Christmas message to Makiri. First, you can post it in this thread set up by Henner. This will be a public posting so everyone can read what you have written her. Sharing in this way is cool, and if Makiri does come look around our site she can read your message directly. Second, you can send me a Private Message or email and I will absolutely respect your privacy and not read the message. Your message is between you and Makiri, and it is also cool if you want it to go from your keyboard only to Makiri's eyes. Unless your computer is different than mine (I am a Mac user) if you click on the KirilenkoRulz next to this message you get a drop down menu that gives you the option to send me a Private Message. If you click on my avitar it will take you to my profile, where there will be an option to send me a private message. Also, please feel free to just send me an email to firstname.lastname@example.org - this will allow you to include photo's, electronic Christmas cards, and graphics. Please put "Private Message to Makiri" or something similar in the Subject so I will know not to read anything after opening. And I promise to delete all messages/emails after they are printed. A copy of this post will be posted on the Cheering Thread as well, so our friends who only go to that site will be aware of this activity.
I will be printing the messages, one to a page so you will have your own entire sheet, on my work printer a Canon PIXMA so I can do very high quality, photo resolution printouts. Photos and graphics will come out very sharp. After Henner sends me the formatted public posting, I will print out two copies. One copy will go overnight US Mail to the WTA Players Assn in Florida, and one copy will go overnight FedEx/DHL to either MMF or Dan. I will cover the shipping costs, not a problem. I will be closing both envelopes around 3pm (1500) US Central Time Zone on 15 December. The plan is to have the envelope at the WTA Players Assn office first thing 16 December, so they will have at least a week to get it forwarded on to Makiri before they break for the Christmas Holiday. And if all goes to plan, the package will arrive in Moscow between Christmas and New Years. Then MMF/Dan will hopefully get the chance to hand her the second package in Sydney a few weeks later.
I am sure Makiri will be humbled and grateful for all of the thought, time and love you put into these Christmas Messages, have fun with it.

You two agreed... I think you are making this much more complicated than it is supposed to be... WAY MUCH MORE complicated....
Dec 9th, 2005, 10:16 PM
It has been a lot of fun to have everyone make inputs to Makiri's Christmas messages project, but Luis is right, it is time for closure. You know the details on how we are going to get your messages to Makiri, here is what you need to do to get us your message:
1. Write your message as an email, include photos, electronic Christmas cards, grahpics, text (as this will be printed out, animation will not work). Please remember that we all want this to be a positive and encouraging package for Makiri to do our part to help her have a great 2006.
2. email it to me at email@example.com Please put Private Message for Makiri or something like that in the Subject so I will know not to read your message. I will need your message no later than 15 December.
3. IF you also want to make a public posting, cut your message and paste it into this thread.
That's it, we will take it from there and get it to Makiri. We will provide updates on our progress in this thread. If you mark your messages as Private, I commit that they will be deleted once printed. No one will see your message but Makiri. Thanks to everyone in advance, Makiri is not only the cutest player on the WTA Tour, she also has the most awesome fans!
GL is a Russina in disguise otherwise how could she speak Russian to Maria? ;)

Just a reminder that in about 2 days (end of day Thursday) I will be printing out Maria's Christmas messages. If you wish to send one, just post on Henners thread, send me a PM or email to me at firstname.lastname@example.org If you use either of the last two options your message will be kept private.
Updates - We are just up to double digits of messages. Also, there has been quite an active dialog on the Russian site over the past few days on exactly when Makiri will celebrate Christmas. The bottom line is if Makiri is Catholic or Protestant she will celebrate Christmas 25 December on our calendar (Gregorian). If Makiri is Russian Orthodox she will celebrate Christmas on 25 December on the Julian calendar which is 7 January on our calendar. No one who has posted on the Russian site seems to know her denomination. But the question is out there for the next time Makiri checks in on that site, and if she wishes, she may tell us.

Dec 15th, 2005, 07:29 PM
Even though I put my Christmas message in an electronic Christmas card and thus went the "private" route, below is the message I wrote for that Christmas card:
Merry Christmas to you and your family! It has been great to be a fan this past year to share in all of the great times (China!) as well as sad times. I pray the New Year brings you health, happiness, a thousand friendships and a million smiles! May all of your tennis dreams come true, and may you have joy in your extraordinary achievements. You are a very special person. Love always,

I wish you a merry Christmas and a happy new year!
I hope 2006 will be at least as good as 2005.
Have fun and may all your dreams come true for this new year!
Cécilia, from France.

Well, the two print outs are done and the packages sitting on my cradenza. But, there is still time, oh about an hour's worth, if you have not posted a message for Makiri and wish to do so. I will also check my email@example.com email one last time before sealing up the packages. The posted messages were cut and pasted (the old fashion way with scissors and tape), two to a page so Makiri will not see the above thread but only the messages themselves. The posted messages are short enough that putting 2 on a page makes each message stand out as distinct. The avitars printed nicely, and Dan23's new avitar with both Maria's looks very nice on the printout. To maintain privacy, the private messages were printed out one to a page.
Right now, we have 15 messages printed on 14 pages. I am still awaiting one more message from someone I was sure wanted to send one. That would make 16 messages on 15 pages. Package 1 will be overnighted to the WTA Players Association and should be at their office in St. Petersburg, Florida by tomorrow morning.

Cecilia's message came in while I was writing my last post. And she was the one I was expecting. So, unless I get something in the next half hour the Kirilenko's Orchestra Christmas Messages for Makiri package is complete. A total of 16 messages and 15 pages, it is VERY awesome! I can envision Makiri getting the package while still at home and opening it, sitting down and reading message after message of support from the members of the Kirilenko's Orchestra. Very nice.....

Thanks for doing that Walt :yeah:
Dec 16th, 2005, 02:36 AM
Update - Since we had 16 messages and the package looked awesome, I went ahead and sent the package UPS Overnight. The package will arrive at the WTA office in St. Petersburg, Florida tomorrow (Friday) by 10:30 am US East Coast Time. Or in about 13 hours. I have the tracking number and will let everyone know when we have a confirmation that it has arrived. The WTA office will have to sign for it, so we will know with certainty it is there. When you overnight you stick your envelope in another envelope. So, for the WTA's eyes only, inside the outer envelope I was able to slide my business card and a note to the WTA telling them this package was from the Kirilenko's Orchestra on WTAWorld.com and that I would be happy to cover the forwarding cost to Makiri. Will let this sit a day and then call the WTA on Monday to see what's up. It has been my hope that we could have the package in Makiri's hands between Christmas and New Year. So far, so good. Once the WTA Office has said they have forwarded our package to Makiri, it is done. And we also have the second package in the ready for hand delivery in Australia.

 Stupid exam :fiery:
It will be for the next time so...Zoltan83 & Everyone Else - Have heard from at least three Orchestra Members who would have liked to send a Christmas Message to Makiri. As only ONE of the TWO envelopes have been sent, there is still time for your message to go in the second package! Drew or Dan will be hand carrying the second package to Makiri at Sydney or Melbourne so we won't need to seal that one up until the end of December.
If you wish to send a message and still haven't please post it here, send me a PM or use my email. Any messages I get by 28 December 2005 will be added into the second package.

Thanks Walt
Done..You can check your PM. I did it now. :D

Just to make sure there is no confusion, the plan has been set for quite some time, please feel free to send either Christmas or birthday wishes for the second package. Thanks!

Final Update - Just spoke to the WTA Tour office in St. Petersburg, Florida. They confirmed that they received our package for Makiri and that, "it has already been forwarded to her home address." So package one is done, on its way to Moscow as you read this. Many thanks to the 18 people who took the time to write a message for Makiri. For me there were two sides to the Makiri messages. First, for everyone in the Orchestra to have a chance to say something to her directly. For those of you who have written to Makiri for the first time and were nervous about doing so and what to write, wow, your message will be at her home, most likely before Christmas! Second, for Makiri, who will have that moment when she opens the package. I haven't a clue what it must be like to be 18 years old and to get a fairly thick package of Christmas wishes from fans from all around the world. Then to read message after message of support for 15 pages. Maybe for Big Masha this would not be a big deal. But for Makiri, my guess is it will be positive and meaningful. And much like an orchestra, your message must sound great to Makiri's ears as a solo, but, how much more beautiful the music that your message was part of the larger orchestra.
Merry Christmas to everyone on Kirilenko's Orchestra. Truly, the nicest player on the tour has the nicest fans in the world.

Thanks Walt! I put my mailadress under my message, maybe she will answer and we all can have a sign that she got our package.
