Just thought that Ting should have her cheering thread. ;)

Ting had a mediocre 2005, her best results being a Guangzhou QF (with wins over Zvonareva and Jidkova)

Good luck in 2006! :hearts:

http://www.australianopen.com/en_AU/news/articles/2006-01-14/200601141137218762165.html

One of the two Chinese women to survive qualifying, 25-year-old Li, has reached the main draw at Melbourne Park for the fifth consecutive year, advancing to the third-round in 2004 and 2005.

I did not know LI Ting has been 5 years in a row in the AO main draw .

She reached the 3rd round, but in doubles.

"The Chinese guy looked at me weird... but I don't really care what he thinks! Ting Li was drilling her net game over on another court. She was really impressive; her "dead" volleys were powerful, and she managed to make powerful smashes out of lobs that were behind her head. Not only powerful, but well placed. She was kind enough to sign my book (since there was no biography for her, I had to get her to sign an add... it said "On the line!" or something, and I thought it was cute. I really should consider getting a big ball, but I don't like not being able to tell who's signature is who's.) She laughed at one point, because she made the basket of balls fall, and her laugh was cute as can be. She's a threat, at the net! Yes, I had to speak in rhyme. Maybe I should do it all the time?"

Thanks to Volcanic Tennis, Matt's report. So, we know she can volley and her height is an advantage at net. if only she could just stop double faulting! lol keep up the hard work, Ting

She can't be awful if she has a top 10 win (albeit off-form Serena Williams), made it to second round of 3 singles GS (Ting only appeared in MD of Australian Open due to ranking twice in first round, losing both times :tears: ), a QF at a Tier II tournament and is ranked over 100 places above Ting in singles?

Despite a good fight Ting lost 7-5 and 7-6 in her Sydney first round doubles match with Jill Craybas.... I hope she gets a good result in her next tourney, she just needs confidence!

Ting Li is playing doubles with Su-Wei Hsieh at the Open. hopefully she can score her first win of the season. Another tough draw for her though as they play the #16 seeds Daniilidou and Woehr. Hsieh had a pretty sore shoulder in the singles qualifying event so hopefully it won't hamper her.

I feel bad for Ting - going from tournament to tournament and picking up spare doubles partners ... does she have any chance of playing Olympics 2008 now? if not, I fear she will retire

she wanted to retire, but CTA said no :o she knew her form is not good due to her back injury. she didnt want to be a debt for tiantian... thats why she was willing to split from her. :crying2:

ting li is studying theory at beijing sport institute atm. she wants to do the same thing like na li to be a bit mature. she told her old coach she wants to play tennis again :rocker2: he said it will take a bit time to help ting li to reform her form, strength etc etc.

Wow she seems to have aged so much? Congrats on having a son.

Rising Sun, what was her 2000 hair style like? I think I have only ever seen her with short hair! Like when she won the Olympics in 2004 it was already short, but at least it was a bit "funkier"...
