View Full Version : Lindsay Davenport: 2005 Year End #1

Nov 11th, 2005, 03:40 PM
After Lindsay's tough loss last night, I figured I should bring something positive into the forum.

For the first time in her career, Lindsay will be ranked #1 at the end of two seasons in a row. This is an amazing accomplishment, one that only five other players have ever done, the last being Martina Hingis in 1999 and 2000.

So, congrats to Lindsay on her 4th time ending the year #1. She deserves it. :)

Lindsay surely deserved it more than anyone else this season. ;)
After such a long lasting and full of succes career she became one of the true icons of the sport. :worship: Even for her greatest opponents
I think that she's the most consistent player on tour at the time and must be very proud of herself to finish another year at #1 in the rankings. :p
But probably she would have been even more satisfied if she had won in Melbourne or in London though. :tape: I do believe she'll win in LA though :p
I've always counted on Linds and 2006 wil be her goodbye wave to the circuit so it'd be especially beautiful if she holds on the top spot with winning whichever of Slams
Can't wait to see her happy again as she was after 2000 AO :lick: :bounce:

It great she did and she is now tied with Billie Jean King with four year end number 1. This is another positive thing that has no real relivence to anything. If Lindsay wins the whole tournment she will pass Steffi and Martina on the career prize money list.

Also Lindsay can still win this tournment you 're just gota keep having faith in her and even she doesn't it still been a great year.

Congrats Lindsay! I am so happy for you! Even despite that you didn't win any slams this year, it was a great season, so many victories, several new titles.... and #1 ranking the end, again!
I hope Lindsay will win the Championship even if she plays Sharapova in the final. I was a bit upset that she was beaten in a match against her, but I think Lindsay just wanted to save some energy and not to spend forces to grab a vicrory that was absolutely unnecessary. She said herself that she hadn't known what to play for in that match.... Anyway, whatever is gonna happen, Lindsay is #1 in WTA ranking and in my heart!!!
