I'm posting this thread now so that I can explain how the rules of this game will be applied to the championships.
Like the WTA championships, the top 8 players only will be eligible to play this event. There will be alternates in place who may make picks in case one of the top 8 players do not pick.
The competitors will be drawn into 2 groups of 4 (like the championships). The top 2 finishers in each group after the Round Robin points are tallied, will advance to the SEMIFINALS, and the top two players after the semifinal points will advance to the final.
In your post, you will pick the winners of ALL of the Round Robin matches. Based on your Round Robin predictions, you will take the top two players you predict to advance in each group and predict the winners of the semifinals and the final. If, based on your round robins predictions, two players are tied for second place in a group, you must CHOOSE one which player advances to the semis. REMEMBER: you must pick all Roudn Robin matches, the semifinals, and the finals in the same post.
-If you are unsure about how to do it, just ask me to clarify, or use my picks as a guide.
If someone withdraws after the groups are made (doubtful), I will post instructions about changing your picks. I hope it doesn't come to that. Have fun everyone!

This could get really complicated ... what if i chose someone for SF who won 2 matches (let's say another one won 2 matches in the group) but because of the head-to-head or lesser sets lost she won't advanced?

Yeah, that is the risk in the championships. You have to make that choice.
It should get less complicated once the tournament begins.

Great, this sounds fun! The draws will be posted here right?
This is correct as far as the pick format, except players from the same group cannot play each other in the semis, so you did not need to pick clijsters v. pierce semi or the davenport v. sharapova semi because those cannot happen.
follow hotwine8's format. You must decide on two finalists. In your case it doesn't really matter though, because only the winner of the final matters, and you have picked Davenport in both cases.

A clarification of scoring:
-I will receive points for every round robin match i predict correctly (pretty straightforward)
-I will receive semifinal points only if Clijsters beats Davenport, Clijsters beats Schnyder, Davenport beats Pierce, or Pierce beats Schnyder. Since there is an option (you may pick more than two possible semifinals), you must have the winner and loser of the match correct to win points. For instance, if Clijsters were to beat Sharapova in a semifinal, I would receive no points.
-I will receive final points if Clijsters wins the YEC. Since you must decide on one winner, you get points if she wins, no matter who she beats.

Matches start in 1.5 hours.
I've PMed those who have not picked.
If they do not pick, KuzyIsNo1 will replace ZAK, and mat87to will replace ma261988. (I guess that "for fun" prediction will pay off. You'll be a replacement.)
Since jrm picked 3 semifinals correctly and Kuzy picked 2 semifinalists correctly, jrm qualifies first from that group and Kuzy qualifies second. In the other group, silverwhite and I picked identically, so I guess the placement will come by ranking, so I will qualify first and silverwhite qualifies second.

NOTE:
Since there is really no way to decide between alwayshingis, KuzyIsNo1, and silverwhite, because we all have the same picks, I have decided to do away with the semifinal round.
If Pierce beats Davenport, jrm wins the YEC for being the only one to pick that, and receives the 485 points for the championship.
If Davenport beats Pierce, jrm will be eliminated. If Davenport goes on to win the YEC, then KuzyIsNo1 wins the championship.
If Davenport loses to either Sharapova or Mauresmo in the final, we all suck and the 485 championship points will be divided amongst the 3 of us who picked Davenport to go to the final.
