There are many Russians, Americans, French and Czech players in the top 100 and thus it is nice to see players who reached the first 100 of the world in 2005 coming from countries which don't have a whole "armada" of talented tennis players and thus can write history for their country.

I just want to give credit to the following seven players: Sania Mirza (first ever Indian player in Top 100), Michaella Krajicek (Dutch world junior champion), Sofia Arvidsson (following on the track of Asa Svensson), Emma Laine (first player from Finland in Top 100 since more than 10 years), Sybilla Bammer (it is really surprising to me to see an Austrian in Top 100 after Barbara Schett retired ;) ), Maret Ani (first Estonian player in Top 100) and Anastasiya Yakimova from Belarus.
