Sharapova was nowhere near #1 when she beat Serena ;)

:worship: at the jen matches! the wimbledon 2001 win was such a biotchfight, Serena actually played so well until 7-6 5-3 30-0, but Jen faught so so well and started cleaning lines, one of the best fighting performances ive seen from Jen. Serena nearly came back from 0-5 in the third though.

But...but...but...

She was neither a "former" nor a "current" #1 at that time.

She was a "future" #1.

So...he's right, and you're wrong.

Daffodil didn't say, "former or current #1s at the time of those losses." :p

That has to be the only way you can interpret it. When you lose, you lose at that time, not in the future. That crazy English language.

But it's moot, because I guarantee you by the end of 2006 it will be 13/13 after Likhovtseva wins the Australian and Wimbledon and Craybas wins the French and murders the rest of the Tour after losing 2R at the Open.

They can be soooo nerve-wrecking (and frustrating because for some weird reason J Cap can get Serena to play the way she wants to ) but i miss them too  :scared:

Yeah but when she lost to her she was #15, NOT a former or current #1

If the poster had said former, current or FUTURE #1 that would have made sense
