UMM...I don't think she has a ranking anymore. She hasn't played the required amount of tournaments to hold a ranking.

No tournament director is going to refuse Jennifer, a former world #1 and multi-grand slam champion a WC. When she is ready to come back she will get straight into the main draw of tournaments.

Are sure that she is unranked, because she still have 59 points from her quaterfinal apparence in Philladelphie 2004

And you need three tournaments, no matter how many points you earn in one (or two) tournaments before the third one. A grand slam champion could be unranked if it was the only tournament she played in the last 52 weeks.

Does she receive a protected ranking when she returns?

I think she won´t have seedings which means she could face Kim or Serena or whoever early. Her rise in the rankings should not be a quick one therefore as interesting draws could prevent her from going deep into events. And you definetly don´t get a MASSIVE boost just for doing well in just one tier II or whatever as it only means appr. 200 points or whatever. Jenn was a GS player and made her points due to GS, same as Serena. Look at Serena´s points at the end of 2005 and you´ll see that -when she goes out in AO early, she could fall as deep as no 50 or something like that. It would also mean a huge setback for her.

The WTA are considering changing their rules for 2006 to allow for special injury seeding (partly due to what Clijsters and JHH did to draws with no ranking when they returned this year). If that is the case, Jen will get the seed in accordance with the rank she had when she was injured (#8)...

No matter what, Jen will have direct entry into any tournament for I believe 8 tournaments due to the injury ranking entry rule. And beyond that, if she needed it, she would get a WC from any tournament she wanted to play.
