Marta will play against Craybas :D she can win this for sure.

One thing that is "sure" with Marta is that she can win or lose against abybody . Marta was broken twice yesterday against a player ranked 400 something. She did not reach her stability yet; I believe she will one of these days. Good luck Marta against Jill :)

I think everyone knows that ;) I meant Marta is able to beat her, because she leads 4-0 H2H against Craybas :) Of course unless she becomes a DFs machine

PS. Just wonder , do you think Marta will play Krakow :tape:

I think she'll play. Why did you write ":tape:"? This tournament will be held after the WTA-season, a player can win even 70pts there, it's almost like a small WTA tourney, so it'll be good for her to play here, in her own country. Many players ranked around #50 will play the ITF$100k to gain some points at the end of the season IMO, also Marta should play in one or two ;)

lot of breaks and rebreaks
interestingly, "rebreak" is used in Polish and German tennis parlance, but although it looks like an English term, IMO it isn't. If you rebreak your opponent's serve, it means you have broken her serve once again. What English commentators use for the "Polish" rebreak is "break back". But the Polish tennis language in general is a disaster, adopted from English either via Kurdish or by someone really hard of hearing. why, for example, smecz when it should be smesz or smasz for smash, why debel not dabel for doubles, why deblout not dablout or dabelfolt for double fault, and why on earth rebreak against all logic? no offence meant.

Is she trying to better Kournikova's 1999 double trouble record of 31 in one match and 93 in four consecutive ones? Except that Anna won her AO match against a Japanese player ranked 80 or so, just like Marta's opponent here, despite the 31 DFs. Marta managed only 8 DFs in the first set, giving it away. Marta Domachowska: Grałam dobrze, bo... wszyscy mnie skreślili

http://bi.gazeta.pl/im/9/4854/z4854569X.jpg
W tym roku też powalczę o dobry wynik - mówi Sport.pl Marta Domachowska, druga rakieta w Polsce (WTA 61) przed startem Australian Open

Jakub Ciastoń: Sania Mirza w pierwszej rundzie to trudna przeszkoda?

Z takim rankingiem można dalej grać w niezłych turniejach i odrobić stratę. Wystarczy jeden dobry występ, by wrócić w to miejsce, gdzie jestem teraz.

Grałam na luzie, bez presji, no i dobrze przepracowałam zimę. Chyba o to chodziło.

To kwestia oszczędności?

As you all might know, I was defeated in the 1st round by Sania Mirza in straight sets. I expected quite the contrary to be honest. I wanted to do my best, I wanted to play with the same ease as last year. The match was not nice to watch, we both made lots of mistakes. We have been hitting together a couple of times on practice courts and we know each other very well. We definitely were not on top of our game. In the 2nd set I led 4-2 before I lost my service game twice. I just couldn't hold my serve. No doubt, my serve is the first thing to work on. In the past, I used to win dozens of free points with my serve, my serve always helped me to take the initiative. Now, my serve is shaky, I make too many double faults. Yes, I am feeling low and disappointed, but this is sport - it goes one way or the other. Time to get down to work!

Marta's interview given in Australia for international forum

Tennishead Q&A: Marta Domachowska

Twenty-three-year old Polish star Marta Domachowska had a superb 2008, ending the season by breaking back into the top 50. It was also her fourth consecutive year of finishing in the top 100, the highlight of which was a quarter-final finish at Bali where she also reached the doubles final with Nadia Petrova. Domachowska couldn’t quite match the fourth-round finish she achieved at the Aussie Open in 2008, but the friendly Pole remains upbeat for 2009…

Tennishead: Last year was a good season for you…
Marta Domachowska: It was good because at the beginning of the year I was 200 and I came back to the top at the end of the year.

Tennishead: So what are your ambitions for 2009?
MD: Well, it was a bad beginning to the year because I just lost and last year I got to the fourth round so I was defending a lot of points but sure I would like to stay close to the top 50 all the time and try to get into the top 30.

Tennishead: What do you need to work on to achieve that?
MD: In tennis, the mental part is very important so I think that will be good for my game. I am working with my psychologist and I hope this will help. I think for sure there are some things I need to work on and improve to get better.

Tennishead: Do you and fellow Pole Agnieszka Radwanska support each other at events such as these?
MD: Yeah, we’re good friends and we are always supporting each other, and for sure when she is playing I will go watch her and when she has a chance she watches my matches as well.

Tennishead: Do you think Polish tennis is in a good state and are there lots of people coming into the game?
MD: For sure, it is much better than when I was 13 because I was the only player on the tour that was playing at the beginning and now Agnieszka and her sister Urszula are getting better and better every year and I think now much more people are coming to play tennis.

Tennishead: And how important were the Olympics for you?
MD: I think it was an amazing experience for me and I think it’s something I will remember for the rest of my life.

Tennishead: Who else do you travel with on the tour?
MD: To be honest with you I travel by myself, and it’s not easy to be on your own but I will try to find someone to travel with me.

Tennishead: Are you looking for a coach ?
MD: I have a coach in Poland but he can’t travel with me.

Tennishead: So if you are on your own, what do you do to relax?
MD: Well, it’s quite boring to be away from home but I have some friends here – some of the other players.

Tennishead: Who are your friends on the tour?
MD: Well of course there is Agnieszka and all the other Polish players, [Caroline] Wozniacki and Maria Kirilenko.

Tennishead: Where do you find your inspiration, what inspires you when you are playing?
MD: I think just being here and playing all these tournaments, it has always been my dream. That is inspiring.

Computer translation:

Domachowska: “Not yet I have reached my maximum level and it does when it I hope to arrive very far”

Polyglot, Marta speaks Polish, English, Russian and Spanish · His fianc2e, Pawel Korzeniowski, are ex- champion of the swimming world · Their tenísicos idols are Steffi Graf, Kim Clijsters and André Agassi · In the 2006, it gained the match of Canberra in doubles next to Roberta Vinci

Marta Domachowska (Warsaw, 1986) is one of the young values of Polish tennis. After happening through a medical statement of release from duty, it has returned to the tracks with desire to return to high levels in the feminine ranking and hopes to finish the year between the 50 first. Before traveling to Charleston, its next destiny, took care of the call of MARCA.com…
You come to be a month because of an appendicitis, how you are?
Now I feel very well, thanks. In the end I did not need surgery and only I had inflamed the zone during a time, so I hope that it is not repeated in the future. I already was well in Indian Wells and Miami, the next challenge will be Charleston.
“I would like to be able to improve my better ranking than to date he has been the 37”

You are in position 97 of ranking WTA, objective what you have marked yourself from now until end of season?
The first goal is to put to me enters the fifty best ones of the world, although I would like to be able to improve my better ranking than to date he has been the 37. I will try to do all the possible one to obtain it.
To date you have gained a title WTA in the discipline of doubles. For when the first victory in individual?
There am jugago three end there are but them lost. I hope that this year returns to find me a situation similar and manages to win.
Which has been the best one and the worse memory than you have had to date like tennis player?
To reach the fourth round of the Open of Australia the past year was a great moment in my race. I had to play the qualification, was around position 150 and nobody waited for nothing of me. I gained six consecutive parties unfolding the good tennis and I even played against Venus Williams in the Central Track I will never forget it! Bad moments I have had some, perhaps but the worse thing was to lower of position 37 to the 200 in ranking WTA.
Until where you dream to arrive?
I know that not yet I have reached my maximum level, so I would like to do it and to see far all that she could arrive.
“I admire to Steffi Graf reason why it has obtained and by how it has handled his life”

Who has been or is your idol in the world of the racket?
When she was a girl admired much to Steffi Graf. When it was ten years old I trained next to other young Polish tennis players with his ex- trainer, it used to call “Steffi to me”, and that was pleasant, I must say to me. I admire also it by everything what it has obtained and by how has handled its life, always in the correct way.
How defenirías the tennis of nowadays?
I believe that tennis has much of mental physicist and, although is in the psychic aspect where it is the true difference. They are two areas that can be improved, but everybody strikes very well to the ball.
You think that the brothers Williams are a level over the rest?
I believe that they are great players, legend cheers, and I like much how they play except when they play against me (she is ***reflxed mng). When they are concentrated in the game are invincible, but they also are people…
Which is the tenístico level of Poland?
Polish tennis improves every year. When I began in the world of tennis was the unique tennis player of my country, but now we have younger and better tennis players. The Radwanska brothers are very well now; The Urszula, youngest of the two, is raising very fast in the ranking. Tennis every time is made more popular in Poland.
Besides good tennis player, it draws attention by his physicist. It has worked sometimes like model?
Thanks! Sometimes I have marched past by a footbridge during some match, but to be honest, she was very nervous… Also I have made some session of photos for magazines and there yes that I enjoyed more.
Still you are young, but, you have plans for when you retire?
There are many things that I would like to make once she retires to me, for example study and train a family with many children.
“Pawel Korzeniowski is one of the strongpoints of my life”

Your fianc2e is also sport, he facilitates this his relation?
Yes, Pawel Korzeniowski is world-wide champion of swimming. Desafortunadamante the trips and the training do not leave long free time us for us, but he understands to me vice versa and. It is one of my strongpoints.
Besides tennis, what other sports you practice?
When she was a girl made swimming, ballet and gymnastics, but now I do not have long time to practice other sports.
You speak four languages, among them the Spanish. What is what it likes more on Spain?
My Spanish still is not perfect, but work in improving it because he is one of my favorite languages. I lived in Spain eight months and I like much his time, his food, his beaches… He enchants the sincerity and the spontaneity to me of the Spaniards. Spain is one of my favorite destinies… Thank you very much by your support.

I wonder what rivals needs Marta nowadays to win. Latvian Sevastova, no.180 in WTA rankings was clearly too strong. 3 sets and Marta may get back to Europe. Do something, girl. It's so sad to watch.

Well, Sevastova is surely a good player now, who is rising up.
She nearly won with Hantuchova, won this year already an ITF and has potential:shrug:
Marta seemed playing good in 2nd set and till 3-4 in the 3dt set:shrug:
Then she lost 2 times her serve to 0, without DF!, and lost the whole match 16 61 46:o
I hope she will play better in Fes,... she is not going to play Fed Cup, is she?:ignore:

Adrian you are a good sport and a great fan of Marta, but she has to get her ass in gear. I believe she is so talented and she wastes it. Perhaps if she falls really low she will realize that there is more effort required. Concentration and focus are her main problems. She still believes she can solve it easily, but she needs professional help on permanent basis.

(Q)Sevastova vs. Domachowska

This match had the best and worst of Sevastova. In the first set she came out guns blazing, hitting big forehand winners all over the court and cleverly-disguised drop shots. Domachowska, unable to change up her game, just watched the balls fly past her and listened to my applause. It looked as though this would continue into the second set when Sevastova had two break points in Domachowska's first service game, but she missed four returns in a row to give up the game. She held serve in the next game but her confidence became noticeably lessened. Domachowska hit the ball much deeper and Sevastova just gave up by the end of it, hence the 61 scoreline. Sevastova was clearly the better player off the ground in the third set, just some bad returns let Domachowska hold her serve. Finally she connected with some good ones to break for *53 before Domachowska struck back with two forehand winners to break back. I noticed the thread was titled "Marta 'I lose my serve at love at *45' Domachowska" or something, but there was not much she could do. Sevastova hit two straight backhand return winners to get to MP, which she closed out with a nice forehand cross court winner. She was very excited after the match and when I talked to her afterwards she said that she never felt that she would lose it. Nice match from both players, in the end.
