Lindsay didn't win Tokyo in 99. I don't think Concita won a Tier 1 in 92. I'm too lazy to check the rest :tape:

Moscow was not a tier I in 1996, and Conchita won Philadelphia in 1993 ;)

I don't know why some put any weight in the difference between winnign a Tier I vs a Tier II. The players don't put much stalk in it neither should we. Not to mention that at least a couple of the Pilot Pen's (New Haven) were Tier I calibre fields. In 2001 she had to beat Testud, Henin, Capriati, and then Davenport. The last three she beat in just a tad over 24 hours. So while these stats are interesting, they are very misleading.

she is still an active player, so there's nothing wrong with listing her :)

Out of all the titles Kim has, she has won only five Tier Is and one Slam?

First of all don't forget her two YECs. Second I consider she's only really been a force since mid 2003 with the demise of the sisters. She's had a year off injured so write most of 2004 and early 2005 off. Now just look at the rate Kim's won those titles - faster than anyone else except Justine. In the 18 months playing since mid 2003 (so excluding her year out with injury) she's won 5 Tier 1's, one YEC and 1 Slam. Kim and Justine come out about the same rate except Justine's also got 3 more slams than Kim in the same time period.

Seems so strange that Kim & Venus are so low.. I guess I just thought they won a few more:) Also seems odd that JHH has more than Serena,Venus, Kim, etc...

Just out of curiosity, how many did Graf, Seles, & Nav. win?? I know somebody knows off the top of their head;)

Out of all the titles Kim has, she has won only five Tier Is and one Slam?

Done a bit of research. A bit more detail on her rate. If we go back to the end of 2002 to include the YEC which she won then, and take the period from then until now:

Kim won 5 out of 10 Tier 1 tournaments she played in - a 50% success rate. :worship:
Kim won 2 out of 2 YECs she played in - a 100% success rate. :worship: :worship:
Slams? well let's just remember she's finally got one - she's the USO champ. Fingers crossed and hoping she can get even more.

no one has more than 5 different ones

Thats true, only Hingis has won all the tier 1 events. Graf didnt win all of them I believe because she never played in Moscow and it only became a tier 1 in 1996.

How can it be 50%? It should be less than 50%.

Tier 1's keep changing, there is no player who has won all Tier 1 events. Some events that were Tier 1's when STeffi played were reduced to Tier 2 level after wards. Similerly some events that were Tier 2 level were upgraded later. Hingis never won San Diego when it was a Tier 1. I am sure Steffi, Martina and Hingis have won all The Tier 1 events of thier time.

Iw 05kim really should drop the tier 3's and head for the tier 1's. she really coulda won Zurich and Moscow instead of Luxembourg and Hasselt. i cant believe Momo has more tier 1's than her.

Didn't Kim lose to Davenport in the semis of the 01 YEC when Lindsay secured number 1 and also got injured? So Kim hasn't won the YEC everytime she's played. She's also lost to Dementieva I believe in the 00 quarters.

Unless your talking about finals????

she plays luxembourg and hasselt because they are near home. logical reasons

and, she has 2 YEC titles, which IMO are bigger than tier 1s. so she actually has more than momo

While it wasnt a tier 1 back when Hingis won it, it always had the fields most tier 1's desired. Both Filderstadt and San Diego were always tier 2's that most if not all the top players played in. So albeit it not being a tier 1 in name she still won the tournament that has always been prestigious for those who'd showed up in the draw and those who've won it in the past.

she won a TierIV this year, so i'd say she's pretty active for me.
she's also reached the QF or better 7 times, including QF of two tier1s.
she actually streched Kim to 3 in IW so pay some respect.

Just as name_change pointed out to littlebin - you need to read what I actually posted. I said from end 2002 to the present.

I'm really pointing out Kim's record since she became a force in my eyes which was the end of the sisters' reign. It was about then that I started to become a fan of her.
