In this week there is only one event held here in Switzerland, the Zürich Open, a Tier I which should provide top action once again. On the bill are big names as Dementieva, Pierce, Hantuchova, Petrova and of course local star Schnyder. Before the main draw action gets underway, we start with the qualifying competition though! The qualifying draw is also a strong one with players as Pennetta, Koukalova, Peschke and Sugiyama playing.
Please also vote for the events still underway (ITF Joue-les-Tours & San Francisco).
Last season's final:
Magdalena Maleeva BUL beat Elena Bovina RUS | 4-6 7-5 6-3

4. Marta Domachowska POL
In the top half seeds Flavia Pennetta and Sesil Karatantcheva both survived. Pennetta was challenged by Czech Iveta Benesova, but took care of things in two sets. She next faces local star Timea Bacsinszky. Karatantcheva who also seems ready to qualify, needed three sets against Shikha Uberoi. Her next opponent will be popular Czech player Lucie Safarova, which could be another interesting match, cause Safarova saw off second seed Ai Sugiyama in grand style.
In the bottom half third seed Anabel Medina Garrigues had an easy win over Hungarian wild card Agnes Szavay, handing her only two games. Klara Koukalova, who already struggled in the first round, was again taken to three sets by Roberta Vinci, but showed her fighting spirit, by seeing things through anyway. Her next match against Medina Garrigues should be another tough challenge. Kveta Peschke was the only seed falling in this half, losing to Karolina Sprem, who now faces another Czech player in Michaela Pastikova.
It's up to you decide who wins what by voting for your favourite in each match!
