...into having too much pressure placed on her shoulders, and getting slagged off when she has a few bad results... ;) :p

EDIT: I've included Heather Watson in this thread because she's also a 13 year old at Bollettieri like Tara...she got to the semi final of her first tournament where Tara won the singles...

She qualified for her first Grade 4 Tournament and made the 2nd round in Georgia but lost in the 1st round in doubles (with Jordane Dobbins)...

She's gone further in Canada, making the QF of both the singles and doubles so far...

Next up in singles: Taylor Ormond of Canada
Next up in doubles (with Jordane Dobbins again): #1 seeds Odell-Michels/Toporowski

One annoying thing however is that the ITF site list her as USA... :fiery:

Hopefully this girl is the real deal! She has started off her junior career as well as the likes of Vaidisova and Karatantcheva. I don't want to put too much pressure on her but it's hard not to when we've been waiting so long for someone! Go Tara! :bounce:

They made a mistake on ITF. ON ***************** they have her listed as British, she played the British U14 Nationals, and she's even listed on LTA website. I think they thought she was American because she trains in Florida.

She's not on the entry list, so unless she gets a wildcard...

I agree though, I'm sure they'll try to move her up to Grade 2's fairly quickly...

Tara Moore has gotten into the main draw of a Grade 4 (Chanda Rubin Evert ITF Tennis Classic)...

Heather Watson is in the final round of qualifying after beating her opponents 6-4 6-0 and 7-6(5) 6-0...although she has a tough opponent in the final round Irina Falconi who has won a Grade 4 recently...

*hingis_forever*
Nov 9th, 2005, 11:51 PM
Heather Watson lost a tight two-setter to Irina Falconi but got in as a lucky loser anyway. She won her first two rounds in straight sets including a win over the 7th seeded Katerina Rybakova.
Tara Moore lost in the first round to Carling Seguso unfortunately!
Still, she's got a lot of time ahead of her and should continue her rapid rise to stardom! ;)

HEATHER WATSON reached the last 16 in her second International Tennis Federation grade-four tournament in Florida.
After progressing through the first two rounds and beating the seventh seed, Ekaterina Rybakova, 6-2, 6-4, Watson was halted by Rena Zsilinszka of Fayetteville, North Carolina.

In a difficult match, Watson was never allowed to get into any kind of rhythm by her more experienced opponent of three years and lost the match 6-1, 6-0.

In the following interview, Zsilinszka said of Watson: 'She's a solid player.

I had never heard of her before and I didn't know how she played but she beat the seventh seed yesterday so I figured she was really good.

It went my way today so I am happy and excited.

' Zsilinszka is ranked number one in the United States at under-16 level and went on to lose to the eventual winner of the tournament in the semi finals.

The 13-year-old Sarnian is now looking forward to the grade one Eddie Herr International Junior Championships that start on Monday.

The hard-court competition is actually held at the Bollettieri Sports Academy in Bradenton, Florida, where Watson is now into her second year of study and the tournament attracts the most promising juniors from all over the world.

It is one of the warm-ups prior to the Junior Orange Bowl Championships in Miami, Florida, in which Watson hopes to play again this year.

Both have made it through to the 3rd round...

Heather had a nice easy 6-2 6-0 victory...
Tara had a hard fought 6-1 6-7(4) 6-4 victory...close call for Tara, but those are the best matches to be able to win...

They both have difficult matches in the next round, but I think they are both good enough to win them...

Best friends, Tamaryn Hendler and Tara Moore, who both attend the IMG Bollettieri Academy are on course to repeat their 12s final last year, playing in the 14s. Both had huge wins today over the number one and two seeds respectively. "We are partners in dominating," said Tamaryn, who rarely looks at the draw before going out to play her match. "I just tried to play really aggressive and not stay on the defense. The girl hit the ball really hard and I didn't give her any chances whatsoever. Anyway, I hope it continues; cross fingers."

Tara, who will face 2004 girl's 12 Junior Orange Bowl Champion, Valeria Solovieva from Russia, said: "I have already achieved what I wanted to achieve by winning Eddie Herr last year, so to get to the final will be amazing. It will be another line in my Junior Tennis profile."

Heather Watson beat Manisha Chowdhury 6-1, 6-0 in the 14 & under nationals 1st round at Bournemouth yesterday. She plays Lucy Brown today, who she should beat. Her first really tough opponent should be Jennifer Ren in the semi-finals.
I also saw Watson play in the qualifying (at Queenswood) for the 16s, where she qualified fairly comfortably. The 16s competition is also at Bournemouth and will start on Sunday. I'll be down at Bournemouth from Friday.

Tara is playing the Canadian Open Grade 1 junior event and is going strong in singles. She beat fellow 1992 play from Canada, Katarina Paliivets 63 64 then follwed it up with an amazing win over Jessica Moore of Australia 62 76. That's her first win over a top 100 junior player and if I'm not mistaken she is the first 1992 player to beat a top 50 player! :D She has a very tough match though against Sharon Fichman next but there should be no pressure on Tara! Heather is playing in the Commonwealth Youth Games tennis in Pune, India this week.

Looking at the seeds she should win it all pretty easily...at least until the final where she is supposed to play Jade. She has drawn Hopper in QF and the Indian 2nd seed in semis

Girls singles: 1. Jade Winley (G.Br), 2. Poojashree Venkatesha (Ind), 3. Jade Hopper (Aus), 4. Monica Gorny (RSA), 5. Heather Watson (Guernesy), 6. Monica Wejnert (Aus), 7. Kyra Shroff (Ind), 8. Lisa Whybourn (G.Br), 9. Sian Bayliss (Wales), 10. Steffi Carruthers (Samoa).

Heather Watson def. Jade Hopper 6-2 6-1

Watson should play Wejnert in the final. That would be a great match to see :)

Ranking wise that should take her from 84 to about 32. So she becomes British no.2 in juniors and we have two girls in the top 50! So she'll def make the AO.
